Greetings All (Its been a long time for me visiting this resource)
Today's (Wed) webinar brought to a head something that I have once again thought about visiting but had not gotten in gear to do.
While it mainly is an issue for developers with multiple team members or larger customer bases, it is something that can benefit all
developers and I was asking about this back in 2006 (I believe).
What have you done about Source Code Version Control? Today's webcast brought a tool called Git & SourceTree which looks pretty good
for a start, what others are being deployed by developers here? I have already downloaded these to look at, would you recommend
another set of tools & why?
Additionally, I want to replace a small homegrown Issue Tracker. I have spent this afternoon searching the Inet and reading about a bunch of
them, however I have not found anything that really fits my desire. I would like a local application (expandable to a web-based) solution
that would allow unlimited (or at least 5-10) projects to start for 2 -3 users, preferably in the free to very inexpensive range to see if it does
things in a way I can live with. Most free ones allow for a single user and very limited or a single project only. Has anyone come across or
is using one that meets these goals? If it can link into Git or another Source Control System that would be a big plus but not a total deal-
breaker either.
Wish Alpha Software was farther along with what they were doing or going to be doing in the Source Control world so as to know that I
wasn't heading out into deep water, needlessly.
Regards,
Keith
