Bonus TIPS for Successful Posting

Try a Search First
It is highly recommended that a Search be done on your topic before posting, as many questions have been answered in prior posts. As with any search engine, the shorter the search term, the more "hits" will be returned, but the more specific the search term is, the greater the relevance of those "hits". Searching for "table" might well return every message on the board while "tablesum" would greatly restrict the number of messages returned.

When you do post
First, make sure you are posting your question in the correct forum. For example, if you post an issue regarding Desktop applications on the Mobile & Browser Applications board , not only will your question not be seen by the appropriate audience, it may also be removed or relocated.

The more detail you provide about your problem or question, the more likely someone is to understand your request and be able to help. A sample database with a minimum of records (and its support files, zipped together) will make it much easier to diagnose issues with your application. Screen shots of error messages are especially helpful.

When explaining how to reproduce your problem, please be as detailed as possible. Describe every step, click-by-click and keypress-by-keypress. Otherwise when others try to duplicate your problem, they may do something slightly different and end up with different results.

A note about attachments
You may only attach one file to each message. Attachment file size is limited to 2MB. If you need to include several files, you may do so by zipping them into a single archive.

If you forgot to attach your files to your post, please do NOT create a new thread. Instead, reply to your original message and attach the file there.

When attaching screen shots, it is best to attach an image file (.BMP, .JPG, .GIF, .PNG, etc.) or a zip file of several images, as opposed to a Word document containing the screen shots. Because Word documents are prone to viruses, many message board users will not open your Word file, therefore limiting their ability to help you.

Similarly, if you are uploading a zipped archive, you should simply create a .ZIP file and not a self-extracting .EXE as many users will not run your EXE file.

Not an alpha question per se

    Hi Everyone

This isn't an alpha question per se but I'm throwing it out there out of desperation.

I have a client with a win10 machine hooked up to a 55" monitor used in their plant for scheduling.

For the life of me I can't get the resolution to work. Plug in a 24" and the app works just fine but plug in the 55 and the app goes south.

Forms work, but any browse (dialog, browse, embedded browse, etc..). Also the icons on the toolbars are 1/4 their size.

It's only effecting the alpha app which is really strange and why I'm posting this here...

Anyways, sorry to be using this forum for a windows question but I've scoured the web and can't find anything that comes close to solving this.

    Kindest regards,

    Keith

Keith, I have a similar problem with a 4K monitor. Everything has either really small text, or text is chopped off as in your examples.

Check the display settings on the affected PC - I'd set scale to 100% and resolution to no more than 2560x1440

          Hi Stan,

          Thank you for your reply.

I was starting to think it was more than just a resolution issue

          I'll give that a try

K2kcc, if you ask me, I ain't no professional programmer and your request was very much Alpha Five related. We got some smart A5 people on here who can just about solve any problem. Just think of those out there who would have returned their screens or computer just for that reason. Won't be using any 4K stuff but thanks for letting me know.

              Hi Jerry

I fixed the problem via Stan's link via the link on that thread (Thx Stan).

Turns out it was an issue with the manifest and the registry.

The resolution still isn't great but at least the application is usable.

              Regards,

              Keith

Ps: Agreed, there are some pretty smart people on here.

Keith, my wife and I (she has passed away) but we wanted to move to Calgary. I wrote to the city for info and they sent tons of stuff and places where I might be able to work, but Tennessee has a grip that is hard to let go. I still have friends in Canada and would have loved to move there. I have always wanted to be a "canuk"
