Bonus TIPS for Successful Posting

Try a Search First
It is highly recommended that a Search be done on your topic before posting, as many questions have been answered in prior posts. As with any search engine, the shorter the search term, the more "hits" will be returned, but the more specific the search term is, the greater the relevance of those "hits". Searching for "table" might well return every message on the board while "tablesum" would greatly restrict the number of messages returned.

When you do post
First, make sure you are posting your question in the correct forum. For example, if you post an issue regarding Desktop applications on the Mobile & Browser Applications board , not only will your question not be seen by the appropriate audience, it may also be removed or relocated.

The more detail you provide about your problem or question, the more likely someone is to understand your request and be able to help. A sample database with a minimum of records (and its support files, zipped together) will make it much easier to diagnose issues with your application. Screen shots of error messages are especially helpful.

When explaining how to reproduce your problem, please be as detailed as possible. Describe every step, click-by-click and keypress-by-keypress. Otherwise when others try to duplicate your problem, they may do something slightly different and end up with different results.

A note about attachments
You may only attach one file to each message. Attachment file size is limited to 2MB. If you need to include several files, you may do so by zipping them into a single archive.

If you forgot to attach your files to your post, please do NOT create a new thread. Instead, reply to your original message and attach the file there.

When attaching screen shots, it is best to attach an image file (.BMP, .JPG, .GIF, .PNG, etc.) or a zip file of several images, as opposed to a Word document containing the screen shots. Because Word documents are prone to viruses, many message board users will not open your Word file, therefore limiting their ability to help you.

Similarly, if you are uploading a zipped archive, you should simply create a .ZIP file and not a self-extracting .EXE as many users will not run your EXE file.

Re: V12 Runtime License suddenly invalid

Activation for runtime should be simple and one time. Insert valid license# and done. From then on, it should run, whether on line or not. Will be installing 28 runtimes by this weekend at a very secure facility and they shut off internet to most computers after the install. That means alpha can not check validation on those closed down computers. windows updates won't happen either.

This is getting beyond a joke - just had the same error AGAIN.

Alpha, either turn off activation for runtime or make it a one-off. I'm sure you're capable of doing this rather than persistently annoying both your customers & ours.

It's 'cos I registered for a trial of Transform - probably.

Contact Alex Muir, he was on to Alpha tech dept for a solution.

Re: V12 Runtime License suddenly invalid

I assume what I'm seeing is the same problem. Getting the 'License does not enable the use of this version of Alpha Anywhere' message when I open the developer, along with references to making sure the system clock is accurate!

Really bad timing, I need to update an app & re-publish as part of a major system go live this weekend.

I've had a license for a couple of years and I've never seen this before.

Is it really a case of waiting for Alpha to sort it out?

Try this fix. It applies to AA I suspect. Change your system clock manually and give it a go.

Re: V12 Runtime License suddenly invalid

Was trying to set up runtime Saturday 09/08 and really ran into the problem.
My thoughts are that the server at alpha was down?
I got the same messages as #34 above. System clock was on time.
could not install and run the runtime, so could not create the shadows. Client spent 45 minutes coming to the office and I spent 30 minutes getting there.
Got several calls and emails from other clients sayng their systems were down. Double checking the license's did not help. Fortunately all clients were prior alpha users and agreed to wait for restoration and explanation.

Not sure how all this will turn out yet.

Re: V12 Runtime License suddenly invalid

One of the Alpha Tech solutions was to disconnect from the internet, start the app and then reconnect. The app won't poll the license server that way. Apparently the check is required to ensure people aren't trying to change their system date to avoid paying. Fair enough, but to the minute?
Not sure how that works with multiple desktops. Sounds like a real box of frogs to me.
With the exception of one non AS app, I have only had the time difference once, ever.

Mine all seem to be working at this point.

This seems a box of frogs to me also.

I was told at the time I bought last time that the runtime and dev would run indefinitely up to the last version before expiry. I expect that.

Mine is working this morning now! I haven't made any changes, no interruption to Internet, no reboot of laptop, just no longer getting the message.

I assume Alpha must have done something!!

Selwyn posted this morning the problem was fixed, complete with a description of what caused the problem, as well as what he did to solve the problems, and last but not least,
directions for people that employed temporary work-arounds.
