Bonus TIPS for Successful Posting

Try a Search First
It is highly recommended that a Search be done on your topic before posting, as many questions have been answered in prior posts. As with any search engine, the shorter the search term, the more "hits" will be returned, but the more specific the search term is, the greater the relevance of those "hits". Searching for "table" might well return every message on the board while "tablesum" would greatly restrict the number of messages returned.

When you do post
First, make sure you are posting your question in the correct forum. For example, if you post an issue regarding Desktop applications on the Mobile & Browser Applications board , not only will your question not be seen by the appropriate audience, it may also be removed or relocated.

The more detail you provide about your problem or question, the more likely someone is to understand your request and be able to help. A sample database with a minimum of records (and its support files, zipped together) will make it much easier to diagnose issues with your application. Screen shots of error messages are especially helpful.

When explaining how to reproduce your problem, please be as detailed as possible. Describe every step, click-by-click and keypress-by-keypress. Otherwise when others try to duplicate your problem, they may do something slightly different and end up with different results.

A note about attachments
You may only attach one file to each message. Attachment file size is limited to 2MB. If you need to include several files, you may do so by zipping them into a single archive.

If you forgot to attach your files to your post, please do NOT create a new thread. Instead, reply to your original message and attach the file there.

When attaching screen shots, it is best to attach an image file (.BMP, .JPG, .GIF, .PNG, etc.) or a zip file of several images, as opposed to a Word document containing the screen shots. Because Word documents are prone to viruses, many message board users will not open your Word file, therefore limiting their ability to help you.

Similarly, if you are uploading a zipped archive, you should simply create a .ZIP file and not a self-extracting .EXE as many users will not run your EXE file.

    Change the color of a tab based on data

    I am changing the color of a tab on a grid using the following code:

    $('{Grid.ComponentName}_TAB_1R_1.2.TAB').innerHTML = '<font style="font-weight:bold;font-style:italic;">Medical Requirements</font>';

    This is working fine.

    However, now I want to do the same thing, except on a UX, but similar code is not working:

    $('{dialog.Object}.V.R1.TAB_2.1.TAB').innerHTML = 'this is a test';

    What am I missing? I have looked at the tab inside of the developer tools and that really is it's name on the UX.

    Is there a better way?

    Note: I realize the example doesn't actually change the color of the tab. At the moment, I am just trying to get it to change ANYTHING. If I can get the text to change, I can change the color, weight, etc myself.

        I need it to be dependent upon data in the form. Your colors are there all the time.

        The javascript I have posted will be wrapped in an if statement. It has to be a javascript solution.

          I think this code might help to get you there. It's not {dialog.Object} to help identify the element... but rather {dialog.ComponentName}. Then... you want to go after the "style" of the element.

          Code:
          {dialog.object}.selectTabPane('TAB_1',2);
          $('{dialog.ComponentName}.V.R1.TAB_1.1.TAB').innerHTML = "Testing";
          setTimeout(function(){
          	$('{dialog.ComponentName}.V.R1.TAB_1.1.TAB').style.color = "red";
          	$('{dialog.ComponentName}.V.R1.TAB_1.1.TAB').style.backgroundColor = "blue";
          },100);
          In this code, I'm selecting a Tab Pane... and then changing the title of the Pane, it's color, and it's background color.

          The style changes are wrapped in a setTimeout() to give the Pane time to change and settle down. Without the setTimeout() the pane would begin the change, the style would change, but then Alpha's class stuff would kick in and would change the Tab color etc to whatever it's default is... and you'd never see your changes.

            I imagine it's the componentname part that I've got wrong.

            Thank you for setting me straight!

              Yes! I replaced "Object" with "Componentname" in the appropriate locations and now all is working well.

                I use the local css for the tab classname. Here is the way to use the classname.
                $('{dialog.ComponentName}.V.R1.TAB_1.0.TAB').classList.add("GrBlueADTabTButtonY");
                $('{dialog.ComponentName}.V.R1.TAB_1.0.TAB').innerHTML = "Yellow Background";

                  David - thank you for post 5 - made my day as I was able to finally get rid of the titles in a repeating section! I couldn't find another way to do it other than in the DOM and the set timeout really helped!
