Bonus TIPS for Successful Posting

Try a Search First
It is highly recommended that a Search be done on your topic before posting, as many questions have been answered in prior posts. As with any search engine, the shorter the search term, the more "hits" will be returned, but the more specific the search term is, the greater the relevance of those "hits". Searching for "table" might well return every message on the board while "tablesum" would greatly restrict the number of messages returned.

When you do post
First, make sure you are posting your question in the correct forum. For example, if you post an issue regarding Desktop applications on the Mobile & Browser Applications board , not only will your question not be seen by the appropriate audience, it may also be removed or relocated.

The more detail you provide about your problem or question, the more likely someone is to understand your request and be able to help. A sample database with a minimum of records (and its support files, zipped together) will make it much easier to diagnose issues with your application. Screen shots of error messages are especially helpful.

When explaining how to reproduce your problem, please be as detailed as possible. Describe every step, click-by-click and keypress-by-keypress. Otherwise when others try to duplicate your problem, they may do something slightly different and end up with different results.

A note about attachments
You may only attach one file to each message. Attachment file size is limited to 2MB. If you need to include several files, you may do so by zipping them into a single archive.

If you forgot to attach your files to your post, please do NOT create a new thread. Instead, reply to your original message and attach the file there.

When attaching screen shots, it is best to attach an image file (.BMP, .JPG, .GIF, .PNG, etc.) or a zip file of several images, as opposed to a Word document containing the screen shots. Because Word documents are prone to viruses, many message board users will not open your Word file, therefore limiting their ability to help you.

Similarly, if you are uploading a zipped archive, you should simply create a .ZIP file and not a self-extracting .EXE as many users will not run your EXE file.

    Conditional Objects Strange Behaviour

We have noticed that if you place a conditional object frame on a form where you have disabled editing if you right click within that area you get a menu with an "allow edits" option.
Has anybody else found this and more importantly found a way to suppress it as the properties for conditional objects are rather sparse.

Not sure what you mean by "where you have disabled editing".

I tested setting the properties for a form to restrict Enter Record, Change Record, Delete Record. Saved and viewed the form. Right clicked on the form and the right click menu contained Allow Edits. No conditional object present.

You can design your own right click menu for the form and remove the Allow Edits choice.

      Hi Stan

      Thanks for reading and trying.

      Here's the scenario
      Create the form
Set it to not allow edits or deletes etc
In the form properties set the right click menu to NONE
(We do this as we only want the users to add or edit data using custom buttons on the form)
Add a conditional object box and set a condition.
Open the form and right click anywhere not covered by the conditional object - nothing happens
Right click in the area covered by the conditional object and you get a menu with Allow Edits as one of the options, this then allows edits all over the form.
I can only imagine this unintended behaviour - there is now way to set the right click properties of the conditional box.

      Regards
      Bob

BTW i did create a menu with just two simple options and set it as the right click menu and it worked all over the form EXCEPT where the conditional object was in which case the right click menu with allow edits appeared

I see what you mean. Actually the right click menu (system) appears when right clicking on any type in object as well here. It doesn't actually work to change the form behavior but it does allow checking the Allow Edits choice and activates the Cancel Changes in the Records menu.

            Disconcertingly you are right :
With the right click menu set to NONE if you have a text box and right click on that the offending menu appears.

Same in V11. Odd that no one noticed.

I also tried making the type in fields disabled and read only. Still right clickable.

You can set the right click menu for type in fields to none but no such setting exists for other types.

For the field inside the conditional object, you can set the right click menu to <none>. Just tried it on one field and not the other and the one where I set it had none - when it was the field that was active. Outside the field but still in the conditional object my custom menu appears that I defined for the form. However if the menu is left blank for any field inside the CO, you get the system menu. So this appears to be the default.

You could edit the system menu: Form_Rclick_Background
