How I Disable New Record Link

I have a table in SQL (INF)
with a field STATE have 2 options Close Open

in a second table (INFD) are the details INF --- 1 to Many ---> INFD

I want that if INF:STATE = "Close" The NewRecord Link on a Grid change to disable

You will probably have to create your own buttons in the action buttons section to be able to set the client side properties that you want. If your using the standard grid toolbar for CRUD operations, I do not think you can set those types of properties. Of course there are client side events that allow you to write code to check for things like that prior to being able to actually submit a new record. In fact you could create a server side function like this:

function CanUpdateRecord as v (DataSubmitted as P, Args as P, PageVariables as P, Result as P)
with PageVariables
Result.Cancel = .f.

if DataSubmitted = .f.

if DataSubmitted.field1 = "" then
DataSubmitted.field1 = "" + now()
end if
end with
end function

This would put the date and time in a blank field, but of course you could do anything. I know that doesn't directly answer your question but I hope it leads you to an answer that works for you.

Like I said you might find it easier to get rid of the regular toolbar buttons for CRUD operations in the grid and create your own allowing you to set serverside or client side options as well as javascript actions when the button is clicked.

Theres a lot of different ways to skin this cat!

You might want to explore your options and maybe someone else will chime in with a simple answer for you. I am amazed at how easily others come up with a single line of code to accomplish something!
