Hi Everyone,

I am not sure if this is going to be a problem for anyone else or not but I encountered it and just putting it out there in case it crops up.

I installed these two updates on a windows 2016 server:

2018-10 Cumulative Update for Windows Server 2016 for x64-based Systems (KB4462917)
Windows Malicious Software Removal Tool x64 - October 2018 (KB890830)

After that, the Alpha WAS would not start. Turned on server error log and was getting a general error message that the server could not bind to the port, and that it was being locked exclusively by another application.

I have IIS turned on for FTP purposes, and by default when you turn on IIS there is a default website that is created. I went into the IIS manager and for this default website I changed the port binding to 81 from 80.

Problem solved! So if your WAS servers won't start after this patch try this out.

Thanks,

Scott
