Bonus TIPS for Successful Posting

Try a Search First
It is highly recommended that a Search be done on your topic before posting, as many questions have been answered in prior posts. As with any search engine, the shorter the search term, the more "hits" will be returned, but the more specific the search term is, the greater the relevance of those "hits". Searching for "table" might well return every message on the board while "tablesum" would greatly restrict the number of messages returned.

When you do post
First, make sure you are posting your question in the correct forum. For example, if you post an issue regarding Desktop applications on the Mobile & Browser Applications board , not only will your question not be seen by the appropriate audience, it may also be removed or relocated.

The more detail you provide about your problem or question, the more likely someone is to understand your request and be able to help. A sample database with a minimum of records (and its support files, zipped together) will make it much easier to diagnose issues with your application. Screen shots of error messages are especially helpful.

When explaining how to reproduce your problem, please be as detailed as possible. Describe every step, click-by-click and keypress-by-keypress. Otherwise when others try to duplicate your problem, they may do something slightly different and end up with different results.

A note about attachments
You may only attach one file to each message. Attachment file size is limited to 2MB. If you need to include several files, you may do so by zipping them into a single archive.

If you forgot to attach your files to your post, please do NOT create a new thread. Instead, reply to your original message and attach the file there.

When attaching screen shots, it is best to attach an image file (.BMP, .JPG, .GIF, .PNG, etc.) or a zip file of several images, as opposed to a Word document containing the screen shots. Because Word documents are prone to viruses, many message board users will not open your Word file, therefore limiting their ability to help you.

Similarly, if you are uploading a zipped archive, you should simply create a .ZIP file and not a self-extracting .EXE as many users will not run your EXE file.

    Simple "json" question for a List Menu

    Trying to make changes to the example in "Displaying Hierarchical Data in a List Part 2" video.

    From an alert message that says: "You selected action_5"
    to the corresponding panelcard. (panelSetActive ..... in below example it would be "Panelcard_5")

    I need to make the change in list events:
    }
    if({dialog.object}._embeddedMode) this._nestedList.iconPrefix = 'a5res:';
    this._nestedList.endPointJS = function(action) {
    alert('You selected \''+action+'\'');
    }

    JSON static data for my one of the choices in my menu list:
    {
    "display": "Menu_1",
    "action": "Action_5"
    },

    Thanks
    Tony

    Re: Simple "json" question for a List Menu

    If you create a new UX using the template "MobileAppFramework_with_SplitView_Hierarchical_Menu" you'll see that the code you're looking for is supplied in the function you're examining.

    Essentially it's this...

    Code:
    if({dialog.object}._embeddedMode) this._nestedList.iconPrefix = 'a5res:';
    this._nestedList.endPointJS = function(action) {
    	{dialog.object}.panelSetActive(action)
    	//close the menu panel if you are on a device where the menu is only shown on demand
    	//first, get a poiner to the top level PanelLayout
    	var pObj = {dialog.object}.panelGet('PANELLAYOUT_1');
    	//then call this object's .hideDock() method to hide the menu.
    	pObj.hideDock();
    	//set the title in the PanelLayout header
    	var ele = $('{dialog.componentName}APPPANELHEADER');
    	ele.innerHTML = action;
    }
    But... there may be other differences between the code in that template UX and the code you've generated... so reviewing the template is recommended.

      Thanks for replying!
      I did try the copy and paste from from a UX using the template "MobileAppFramework_with_SplitView_Hierarchical_Menu", with no luck.
      As you mentioned there must be differences and that's where I don't have the level of knowledge to know where to look.
      Thanks again

        Re: Simple "json" question for a List Menu

        I just copied the "panelcard" code into a test UX I had that contained just the "alert"... and it's seems to be fine. Working and no errors.

        You'll need to post a sample UX.

          Hopefully, I have attached the UX

            Re: Simple "json" question for a List Menu

            The List Control "action" names are literally the name of the PanelCards. In the sample UX, the List Control "action" values are "action1", "action2", etc... and the PanelCards names are "ACTION1", "ACTION2".

            In your case, rename your List Control "action" values to "PanelCard_1", etc. Or actually, valid, meaningful names... "PC_Tournaments", "PC_AMTeams", "PC_PMTeams", "PC_TeamsEntered".

            The "action" values and the PanelCard Ids must match.

              I've tried many different scenarios and still not getting panel cards to show from the menu choices.
              Can you post my sample UX that you were able to get working, so I can compare and see what I am doing wrong?
              Thanks

                Re: Simple "json" question for a List Menu

                The attached UX works. You've not mentioned which version/build you're working with. Always important to know. Also, I'd assume you were aware of the basic error in your posted UX. You can't just have PanelCards. They must be wrapped in a PanelLayout or PanelNavigator.

                The changes I've made to your UX are: Add a PanelNavigator. Change a few of the List Control action values to PanelCard_2, PanelCard_3, PanelCard_4.
