Bonus TIPS for Successful Posting

Try a Search First
It is highly recommended that a Search be done on your topic before posting, as many questions have been answered in prior posts. As with any search engine, the shorter the search term, the more "hits" will be returned, but the more specific the search term is, the greater the relevance of those "hits". Searching for "table" might well return every message on the board while "tablesum" would greatly restrict the number of messages returned.

When you do post
First, make sure you are posting your question in the correct forum. For example, if you post an issue regarding Desktop applications on the Mobile & Browser Applications board , not only will your question not be seen by the appropriate audience, it may also be removed or relocated.

The more detail you provide about your problem or question, the more likely someone is to understand your request and be able to help. A sample database with a minimum of records (and its support files, zipped together) will make it much easier to diagnose issues with your application. Screen shots of error messages are especially helpful.

When explaining how to reproduce your problem, please be as detailed as possible. Describe every step, click-by-click and keypress-by-keypress. Otherwise when others try to duplicate your problem, they may do something slightly different and end up with different results.

A note about attachments
You may only attach one file to each message. Attachment file size is limited to 2MB. If you need to include several files, you may do so by zipping them into a single archive.

If you forgot to attach your files to your post, please do NOT create a new thread. Instead, reply to your original message and attach the file there.

When attaching screen shots, it is best to attach an image file (.BMP, .JPG, .GIF, .PNG, etc.) or a zip file of several images, as opposed to a Word document containing the screen shots. Because Word documents are prone to viruses, many message board users will not open your Word file, therefore limiting their ability to help you.

Similarly, if you are uploading a zipped archive, you should simply create a .ZIP file and not a self-extracting .EXE as many users will not run your EXE file.

Updating a list with joined table with image (mobile offline)

    Hi,
I have the following problem :
    I have 2 tables:
table 1 Items : Id, Itemcode, description, image
table 2 samples : Id, Itemcode, qty

I am populating the list from an SQL query (select samples.*,items.description,items.image)
it works ok, but when I add a new item to it, I can't get the description and price to be displayed :(
I tried adding them by code using the listObj.addTableRow(data)
but even then it is not displayed..

any idea how to do this ?
adding the missing fields to the samples table will result in an unnormalized data :( .. what if the description is changed or the image ?
I prefer not to go down this road

    Thank you for any help

It's be good if you provided the Alpha version/build you're using, the SQL query you're using, sample tables, and a sample UX. You reference "price" in your post, but not in the tables your describe.

Are you talking before syncing the record or after? If you are adding a new item to it, and haven't yet sync'd, then it can't pull the related data because it hasn't gone back to the server yet. There are a lot of variables at play here and we need more information about the construct of your app to try and help.

        Hi,
        It was before syncing.
I moved on and made it with 2lists instead..

David you should put that in your signature...

Re: Updating a list with joined table with image (mobile offline)

Alpha is littered with bugs across more than a dozen builds people are using. What works for me in a current version fails for someone else using a version from a week or a month ago.

I see a lot more posts these days including info about builds... it's important to know. However, one thread recently went on to a bucket of posts before it was revealed that the poster's version was 2 years old.

A thread, like this one, with no concrete details like build, SQL query, etc. is impossible to figure out because there are a hundred mix and match properties that affect the outcome.

I almost always use the last official build... (I download it few days after it get released.).
Sometimes the UX is a bit complex, so sending a sample with data might be easy for a small ux but sometimes it gets compilcated :( at least complicated for me

this is what I am working on
              http://185.2.101.13/medrep/mobilevisit.a5w

it should be on a phonegap. (not yet done).
there are still few glitches to be fixed.
if you want to open it.

              1-open from a mobile browser.
2-click on the logo (It will download the clientside series) (I don't know where to include it on the user interface)
3-select medrep 1 and 13-10-2018 for the date. password is not used yet.

this is suposed to be offline.. :wink

if someone open it let me know what you think :)

              Have a nice week.
