Bonus TIPS for Successful Posting

Try a Search First
It is highly recommended that a Search be done on your topic before posting, as many questions have been answered in prior posts. As with any search engine, the shorter the search term, the more "hits" will be returned, but the more specific the search term is, the greater the relevance of those "hits". Searching for "table" might well return every message on the board while "tablesum" would greatly restrict the number of messages returned.

When you do post
First, make sure you are posting your question in the correct forum. For example, if you post an issue regarding Desktop applications on the Mobile & Browser Applications board , not only will your question not be seen by the appropriate audience, it may also be removed or relocated.

The more detail you provide about your problem or question, the more likely someone is to understand your request and be able to help. A sample database with a minimum of records (and its support files, zipped together) will make it much easier to diagnose issues with your application. Screen shots of error messages are especially helpful.

When explaining how to reproduce your problem, please be as detailed as possible. Describe every step, click-by-click and keypress-by-keypress. Otherwise when others try to duplicate your problem, they may do something slightly different and end up with different results.

A note about attachments
You may only attach one file to each message. Attachment file size is limited to 2MB. If you need to include several files, you may do so by zipping them into a single archive.

If you forgot to attach your files to your post, please do NOT create a new thread. Instead, reply to your original message and attach the file there.

When attaching screen shots, it is best to attach an image file (.BMP, .JPG, .GIF, .PNG, etc.) or a zip file of several images, as opposed to a Word document containing the screen shots. Because Word documents are prone to viruses, many message board users will not open your Word file, therefore limiting their ability to help you.

Similarly, if you are uploading a zipped archive, you should simply create a .ZIP file and not a self-extracting .EXE as many users will not run your EXE file.

    Transient Message Close Button location

    Working on some styling / layouts for the new Transient message but cannot see if it is possible to control the location of the close button?

    transient.png
    On this button which has more than one line of text I would like the close button to align vertically rather than aligned with the bottom row.

    I have tried adding a height value to the div and also setting vertical-align: middle; to the close attribute but no luck.

    Does anyone have any ideas/thoughts?

    Kind regards

    It'd be good to have the html you used to create the message... and the Alpha version/build you're using... and the Transient Message settings you're using.

      Latest production release and the code:

      Code:
      var cname = {dialog.object}.getValue('company_name');
      var _html = '<div style="line-height:20px; text-align: center; display:inline-block;">'+ cname +'<br> has been updated with any changes made</div>';
      var _options = {
      	"className": "",
      	"style": "box-shadow: 0px 2px 6px 2px rgba(0,0,0,.25);background: rgba(0,102,0,.8);color: #fff;border: 1px solid rgba(0,0,0,.8);border-radius: 4px;",
      	"offset": {
      		"major": "4"
      	},
      	"close": {
      		"show": false,
      		"icon": "svgIcon=#alpha-icon-x:icon{fill: #fff}",
      		"iconHover": "svgIcon=#alpha-icon-xCircle:icon{fill: #000}"
      	},
      	"duration": 5000,
      	"animation": {
      		"show": {
      			"type": "auto",
      			"duration": 600
      		},
      		"hide": {
      			"type": "auto",
      			"duration": 600
      		}
      	}
      };
      {dialog.object}.transientMessage('top-right',_html,_options);
      I have currently set "Close" - ""Show" to false but when set to true I have tried other options in that section ie: vertical-alignment: middle and set the div height but no luck.

        Re: Transient Message Close Button location

        Here's something that might work for you. You asked for a close button that aligns vertically... but I think that's beyond my html/css skills. I'm not sure that's a standard approach anyway. I'd think a close button at the top might be better... and that's what I can produce.

        This solution has to abide by the odd way Alpha continues to produce pop-up windows. The windows are given a number and is always incremented. It seems Alpha doesn't care to keep track of what's opened or closed... they just assign the next number. This make it tough to know what window you're dealing with. We need to know that window number in order to close it... so we'll just have play by Alpha's implementation.

        So... we must set a window counter when the UX is opened. In onDialogRenderComplete put this...

        Code:
        {dialog.Object}.__transCount = 0;
        Then your Transient Message code could be...

        Code:
        var transCnt = {dialog.Object}.__transCount;
        {dialog.Object}.__transCount += 1;

        var cname = {dialog.object}.getValue('company_name');

        var _htmlHeading = '<div style="line-height:20px; text-align: center; width:300px; display:inline-block;">'+ cname;
        var _htmlClose = '<div style="float:right; display: inline-block;" onmouseover="A5.u.icon.update(this.children[0],\'svgIcon=#alpha-icon-xCircle:icon\');" onmouseout="A5.u.icon.update(this.children[0],\'svgIcon=#alpha-icon-x:icon{fill: #fff}\');" onclick="window[\'{dialog.object}\']._transientMessageAction(\'MSG' + transCnt + '\',\'close\')"><svg class="icon" style="fill: rgb(255, 255, 255);"><use x="0" y="0" width="100%" height="100%" xlink:href="#alpha-icon-x" pointer-events="none"></use></svg></div><br>';
        var _htmlMessage = ' has been updated with any changes made</div>';

        var _html = _htmlHeading + _htmlClose + _htmlMessage;

        var _options = {
        	"className": "",
        	"style": "box-shadow: 0px 2px 6px 2px rgba(0,0,0,.25);background: rgba(0,102,0,.8);color: #fff;border: 1px solid rgba(0,0,0,.8);border-radius: 4px;",
        	"offset": {
        		"major": "4"
        	},
        	"close": {
        		"show": false,
        		"icon": "svgIcon=#alpha-icon-x:icon{fill: #fff}",
        		"iconHover": "svgIcon=#alpha-icon-xCircle:icon{fill: #000}"
        	},
        	"duration": 5000,
        	"animation": {
        		"show": {
        			"type": "auto",
        			"duration": 600
        		},
        		"hide": {
        			"type": "auto",
        			"duration": 600
        		}
        	}
        };
        {dialog.object}.transientMessage('top-right',_html,_options);
        I've split the message html into 3 pieces:

        _htmlHeading - the company name
        _htmlClose - the close button code. This is a copy of the rendered html a Transient Message produces. This is where transCount is being used.
        _htmlMessage - the actual message.

        You then end up with this message...
