Bonus TIPS for Successful Posting

Try a Search First
It is highly recommended that a Search be done on your topic before posting, as many questions have been answered in prior posts. As with any search engine, the shorter the search term, the more "hits" will be returned, but the more specific the search term is, the greater the relevance of those "hits". Searching for "table" might well return every message on the board while "tablesum" would greatly restrict the number of messages returned.

When you do post
First, make sure you are posting your question in the correct forum. For example, if you post an issue regarding Desktop applications on the Mobile & Browser Applications board , not only will your question not be seen by the appropriate audience, it may also be removed or relocated.

The more detail you provide about your problem or question, the more likely someone is to understand your request and be able to help. A sample database with a minimum of records (and its support files, zipped together) will make it much easier to diagnose issues with your application. Screen shots of error messages are especially helpful.

When explaining how to reproduce your problem, please be as detailed as possible. Describe every step, click-by-click and keypress-by-keypress. Otherwise when others try to duplicate your problem, they may do something slightly different and end up with different results.

A note about attachments
You may only attach one file to each message. Attachment file size is limited to 2MB. If you need to include several files, you may do so by zipping them into a single archive.

If you forgot to attach your files to your post, please do NOT create a new thread. Instead, reply to your original message and attach the file there.

When attaching screen shots, it is best to attach an image file (.BMP, .JPG, .GIF, .PNG, etc.) or a zip file of several images, as opposed to a Word document containing the screen shots. Because Word documents are prone to viruses, many message board users will not open your Word file, therefore limiting their ability to help you.

Similarly, if you are uploading a zipped archive, you should simply create a .ZIP file and not a self-extracting .EXE as many users will not run your EXE file.

Re: Button running script displayed - want display off.

    Bill,

It looks like the actionscript is running an operation to update your record. When you create the operation you get the option to run with/without confirmation messages.

From what I can see it would also appear that an operation is not required for this event if you're only updating the current record. Take a look at what you can do with this...object_set.png

Yes, I am trying to update records, but do I need to see each action script thst is being processed? No. Where is the option to turn off confirmations?

Share the script with us and we should be able to narrow it down.

Its any and all buttons running action scripts. They display every action that has to do with a record being changed. How does one stop the change to a record being displayed?

Is this a V8 app running in V11?

The reason for sharing the code of the scripts is so that we can determine how to get rid of the code that's irritating you.

Re: Button running script displayed - want display off.

I understand that. I have many V11 desktop apps that run scripts from buttons, but I don't have your problem.
If we can see the code we will have a chance of working up a solution.

I finally found it under options for each script to run silently. Thanks.

Glad you found the solution, but it is pretty common to share the solution.

I was trying to find a way to globally configure action scripts like v8 but have found that each action script needs to be done individually. Thanks.

I suspect that is in post #25 Greg.
However, Bill, if you need assistance with anything just post here. The DT side is getting smaller but we are here to help.

Re: Button running script displayed - want display off.

It may seem that I'm being obnoxious here, but the problem described contains a "feature" that I sometimes wanted, and I'm usually not that unique.
I don't seem to be anywhere near the same place Bill was at, which explains why I kept pushing for details.
I'll be the first to admit that once things are working right, I don't want to see that information, but it is certainly useful for those times that things aren't going right.
