Microsoft No Longer Supports .DBF Format

Microsoft did it again, my .dbf databases are not supported anymore and Access sux anyhow..

I'm using Alpha 4 V8 on an old XP machine but I need to get an Alpha compatible database version for Windows 10. The simpler the better. Which Alpha version do I need? It does not have to be the latest Alpha5, it can be any one that's Windows 10 compatible.

Thank you. Where is it for sale? Alpha Software site doesn't show anything but "Anywhere." I've been away too long.............

You'd have to find someone willing to give/sell their license. Alpha software stopped selling those versions years ago, but I believe there
are other options available.

I only need to import my .A4 V8 .dbf and dbt files into a database that's compatible with a Windows 10 install and that can read or import my .dbf/dbt tables. I'll figure the rest of the install that's lost from A4 V8 later. The database I used are quite large (well into 6 figures) so most of the free or inexpensives don't allow that capacity of records. Matt Farnham from Alpha just contacted me regarding a sale of Alpha5 V12, V11 is not available. I'm retired on a fixed income so cost will be the deciding factor and I can't afford a yearly license renewal of $500 per year for V12.

I'm a home desktop single user.

Dave, ask for purchase pricing. No annuals! I am using v12 and have no reason to go backwards. But, v12.3 that I use is where I intend to stay for a while.
Ask for pricing for v12 desktop only with no web. Guessing they will want 995.00 and may be able to get a bit off that?

V11 and v12 are almost the same. newer versions of v12 than mine gets way to big and more bugs(it seems) should include runtime

I'm still using V11, Build 3381, and after the last Win10 update I can no longer save reports. I believe I went through this maybe a year ago and found out it is the Report.Preview() fcn. Please let us know if installing a new V11 and updating your db's helps. I don't recall how I fixed it the last time but V11 has been working for me until this last Win10 update.

Odd. My clients are not being affected by win10 updates in any similar manner. I run 7 apps locally for my own use and have all current win10 updates installed. All are working well.
I am on V12.3.4 2999. It seems if win10 did not support, then there would be a balk when trying to install or create them

Richard, we have hundreds of customers using that build with no problems raised with reporting.

Suggest to un-install/re-install Alpha and sewe if that helps.

Another option worth exploring is vdos, which is DOS emulator for windows 10. It is designed for business applications. I've tested it Alpha 4 ver8, and the combination works quite well.
