Set Structure Filtering

Can anyone think of a reason why a single child link in a set will not hold the saved filter settings while the other child links do?

I have a 1-many child link, which I am trying to filter on a single column. It accepts the criteria but when I save it, leave the design, and come right back, my work is gone and there is no filtering. I am wondering what there might be about the child table that is causing this. The linking fields are the same length and name and field type.

FYI,

I decided I would try to edit the set and rebuild the small forms attached to it. Hence, I deleted a grandchild link and then the child link, saved the set and closed the design. When I reopened the set's design, the links I deleted were still there.

Next I copied the entire set to a new temporary set, deleted the links as mentioned above, saved, and closed the design. When I reopened. the deleted links in the temporary set were gone.

I'm thinking it has something to do with forms/browses created from the set as the temporary set as nothing attached to it at this time.

I restructured and started over and so far everything is working as to filtering.
