Bonus TIPS for Successful Posting

Try a Search First
It is highly recommended that a Search be done on your topic before posting, as many questions have been answered in prior posts. As with any search engine, the shorter the search term, the more "hits" will be returned, but the more specific the search term is, the greater the relevance of those "hits". Searching for "table" might well return every message on the board while "tablesum" would greatly restrict the number of messages returned.

When you do post
First, make sure you are posting your question in the correct forum. For example, if you post an issue regarding Desktop applications on the Mobile & Browser Applications board , not only will your question not be seen by the appropriate audience, it may also be removed or relocated.

The more detail you provide about your problem or question, the more likely someone is to understand your request and be able to help. A sample database with a minimum of records (and its support files, zipped together) will make it much easier to diagnose issues with your application. Screen shots of error messages are especially helpful.

When explaining how to reproduce your problem, please be as detailed as possible. Describe every step, click-by-click and keypress-by-keypress. Otherwise when others try to duplicate your problem, they may do something slightly different and end up with different results.

A note about attachments
You may only attach one file to each message. Attachment file size is limited to 2MB. If you need to include several files, you may do so by zipping them into a single archive.

If you forgot to attach your files to your post, please do NOT create a new thread. Instead, reply to your original message and attach the file there.

When attaching screen shots, it is best to attach an image file (.BMP, .JPG, .GIF, .PNG, etc.) or a zip file of several images, as opposed to a Word document containing the screen shots. Because Word documents are prone to viruses, many message board users will not open your Word file, therefore limiting their ability to help you.

Similarly, if you are uploading a zipped archive, you should simply create a .ZIP file and not a self-extracting .EXE as many users will not run your EXE file.

Help getting iPhone keyboard off the screen

Any tips on getting the iPhone keyboard to slide out of view in an Alpha Launch mobile app?
I have a ux with a list, detail view for editing and save and sync buttons at the bottom.
After tapping on a textbox to begin making edits, the leyboard slides up from the bottom, but it's very difficult to make it slide back down.

    Thanks
    Tony

There should be a button on the keyboard displayed to drop it back out of sight, if you are using a blue tooth keyboard the onscreen should drop out of sight and there should be a button on the USB keyboard to drop the onscreen as well.

Charles, does your iPhone soft keyboard contain a "close keyboard" button? If so, which iPhone and version of iOS are you using? An iPhone7 does not show this key. iPads show this key.

The lack of a "close keyboard" button has been a point of contention for some time now. From what I can see, there is no easy way to close the soft keyboard on an iPhone.

        David and Charles
My iPhone does not have the down keyboard button either, my iPad does.
        Thanks!

Yes, I was referring to my iPad. I misspoke in regards to an iPhone for sure...it sounds like you would either set the text box to read only which I beleive will disable to keyboard OR design the form to work within the constraints of the available landscape.

I am wondering exactly what the issue is. I get that the keyboard gets in the way possibly during data entry but is it also an issue that you cannot move to the next field? Obviously you would need the keyboard to make an entry, so at what point does it become a problem?
If it is a drop-down I beleive making read only will disable the keyboard yet allow for selecting from the values.
If it's something else perhaps someone can give you an idea or work around as a solution

          Good Luck!

Thanks Charles, but I'm unsure how iOS native code is going to help. Did you have something in mind as to how to use this code in Alpha?

                Charles
When I run into trouble .... is when I have several text boxes and I have tapped on one of the textboxes that causes the list to be out of view. The keyboard is takes up over a third of the screen.
The save, reset, and sync buttons are behind the keyboard and it's really hard to touch a spot on the screen that moves the screen up or down.
If I can get the list is in view, I can tap on a row and the keyboard slides down.

Dk-no, I was hoping it might inspire you in some way...
Tony, are the crud buttons in a panelfooter? I have seen often that a pf will rise up with the keyboard.

My crud buttons are not in a panel footer, they are directly below the last textbox

You need to put the buttons on the footer so that the keyboard will "move them up" rather than "cover them up". Also, you may want to consider restricting the number of fields so that the user doesn't have to scroll up and down and can instead navigate between panel cards. The overall issue isn't the keyboard poping up, it's the structure of the interface design.

I will give that a try and I was wondering if I was trying to fit too much on one panel card
                        Thanks
