Default Convert CSV spreadsheet to Excel 4.0 worksheet format using xbasic script

I have many, many CSV spreadsheets that I need to convert to Excel 4.0 format to be able to import the data as part of a large multi-event script. I'd like to be able to write a script to loop through the files and convert the data in the CSV files to Excel 4.0 format. Anyone might know how this might be done?

    Hi Mike,

There are a couple ways to skin this cat.
Forgive my laziness here, but I don't remember anything specific about excel 4.0.

With that said, you might consider importing the csv files into the table of your choice (I prefer MySQL), and then
from there, process the files into a spreadsheet. Alpha has a few methods to do this, so you would somehow have
to determine how involved you want to get in that process.

    Hi Gregg,
That is actually what I am trying to do. The data is delivered to me as a CSV file from another database source. The CSV data is so dirty, with lots of commas in text and memo fields, with line feeds and other junk. The data doesn't parse correctly. I have found that if I convert it to Excel 4.0 and run an import operation, I can then clean the fields of all the commas when in the table, and then I am good to go.

    Might be summat here Mike.
Else, there seem to be a few CSV Cleanup tools about, free of course.

If the c in csv = character instead of comma, it's not difficult to write a script/function to remove all commas.
