Edit a list inline

How can a list be edited inline? Some applications only require a single field to be updated for each record in a list control and having a textbox field directly in the list itself would be more convenient.

The List control should have this implemented by now. Detail view is a bit overkill sometimes, and that ViewBox single field on a whole page is just silly. Sometimes you just want to change a value. There are List Control types for a RadioButton, Checkbox, and Switch... but no input... and there should be.

You can use a List CustomControl.

You establish the HTML needed for the List field to show the data in an input tag.
Include the real field in your List Control, but hide it.
Add a button beside the field to save it with .updateTableRow()

Having the list detail fields in a container window which opens when the list row is clicked provides the look and feel of inline editing. A bit of configuration needed to position the window, etc.

That sounds cool I would love to see an example of this, In particular what you mean by

The steps used were as follows:

• Create list and list detail fields
• Enclose list detail fields & buttons in container window
• Use list row onClick event to show container window
• Window position - Relative (in Window Properties)

In order to have the container window opening at the relevant row in the list, the following code is required:

The container window can be located anywhere in the UX component which doesn't be viewed.
