    Can't you just open the folder from the "Open a non alpha program?
    What do you hope to achieve?

    Ted,

    I want to create the folders in Outlook program.

    FILE.DIR_CREATE("c:/A New Directory") ' works

    file.create("c:/A New Directory/some data",FILE_RW_SHARED) ' added a file

    File.dir_create("c:/A New Directory/next level") ' added a file without permissions

    file.open("c:/A New Directory") ' works

    file.create("c:/some data",FILE_RW_SHARED) ' in the C root, works

    file.open("c:/some data",FILE_RW_SHARED) ' works

    file.open("c:/A New Directory/some data",FILE_RW_SHARED) ' works

    file.open("c:/A New Directory/next level",FILE_RW_SHARED) ' doesn't work as the permissions were not set for next level.
    ERROR: Access is denied.
    c:/A New Directory/next level

    So I think the order of creating the Directory, Sub Directory and Files is pretty important Jon.

    Maybe the sequence?

    I find that dir_create_recurse() answers in pretty much all cases. It's always a good idea to first check to see if the directory exists or not before creating it so:

    Code:
    newfolder = "C:\Level1\Level2\Level3"
    if (.NOT. a5_is_path_valid(newfolder)) then
    dir_create_recurse(newfolder)
    end if
