    Default Page_Total()

    Does anyone know why this doesn't work? Page_total("Transact7->Nom_Charge") Where Transact7 is the table that the field Nom_charge is in. I am trying to total up the "nominal charges" on each page of a report and place a calculated field made up of the function Page_total() which has been placed on the page footer. Thanks for any help.

    Make the calculated field;

    PAGE_TOTAL(Nom_Charge)' Note - no Quotes, no table name

    Use the New Calculated Field builder to create and place the calculation on the footer.

    Ted,
    Could you provide a dummy example of how this function should be written. Using the example provided in the documentation does not seem to work on my version of Alpha Anywhere. Thanks for your help. I have written the function with and without quotes and nothing seems to work. I get "incomplete expression" or the function has no error like that but just has a "zero" as the result. Thanks for your help.

    Ted,
    Each page in my report is another "child" of the parent file(break on pt_no), your report totals up all of the instances from one "child" in the set. Seems to work fine in the example you sent me. It doesn't work for some reason in my set. I think I need to include both the group and sub group indicated in the run_total() documentation. I noticed that you also didn't use quotations around the table name. Thank you for going to all that trouble to demonstrate this for me, I truly appreciate your effort.

    Ok, you are looking at the wrong way to total the items.
    Suggest you look at Grouping over the pt_no per page and your total for the pt_no is what I suspect you are after.
    The only issue will be if the list goes over a page.
    I am away at present so can't create another example to cover the options for 10 days.
    If you can wait, I will put summat together, else, look at Grouping and Totals.

    Ted,
    With your help, I think I have won the "total" war by using as you suggest total(nom_charge,pt_no) I am pretty sure that these will be only 1 page reports for each pt_no as I have supplied 15 lines for each pt_no per page and historically no one has ever had that many lines necessary per page. Would be interested in what you might suggest when you get back. Thank you again for your efforts in helping me.
