Bonus TIPS for Successful Posting

Try a Search First
It is highly recommended that a Search be done on your topic before posting, as many questions have been answered in prior posts. As with any search engine, the shorter the search term, the more "hits" will be returned, but the more specific the search term is, the greater the relevance of those "hits". Searching for "table" might well return every message on the board while "tablesum" would greatly restrict the number of messages returned.

When you do post
First, make sure you are posting your question in the correct forum. For example, if you post an issue regarding Desktop applications on the Mobile & Browser Applications board , not only will your question not be seen by the appropriate audience, it may also be removed or relocated.

The more detail you provide about your problem or question, the more likely someone is to understand your request and be able to help. A sample database with a minimum of records (and its support files, zipped together) will make it much easier to diagnose issues with your application. Screen shots of error messages are especially helpful.

When explaining how to reproduce your problem, please be as detailed as possible. Describe every step, click-by-click and keypress-by-keypress. Otherwise when others try to duplicate your problem, they may do something slightly different and end up with different results.

A note about attachments
You may only attach one file to each message. Attachment file size is limited to 2MB. If you need to include several files, you may do so by zipping them into a single archive.

If you forgot to attach your files to your post, please do NOT create a new thread. Instead, reply to your original message and attach the file there.

When attaching screen shots, it is best to attach an image file (.BMP, .JPG, .GIF, .PNG, etc.) or a zip file of several images, as opposed to a Word document containing the screen shots. Because Word documents are prone to viruses, many message board users will not open your Word file, therefore limiting their ability to help you.

Similarly, if you are uploading a zipped archive, you should simply create a .ZIP file and not a self-extracting .EXE as many users will not run your EXE file.

    I did but it didn't recycle. So I just used the one on the screen.

        Hitting the recycle button creates an error... you'll see it in the console.

            Peter,

            That's the frustrating thing about this. It actually goes through the process and executes the XBasic code. But after you registered, did it clear the screen and take you to a "your request has been received" page?

            All the functionality is working, but the change of page after the ajax callback is not working.

              David,

              I found by putting in debug statements that when the function reaches this point, the value in cmdresult is "Copy Good":

              if (cmdresult=="Copy Good") then
              requestUSER = "window.location = '/req_sent.a5w';"
              else if (cmdresult=="Open Failed") then
              requestUSER = "alert('Failed Open Database');"
              else if (cmdresult=="Read Failed") then
              requestUSER = "alert('Failed to read from current BOM file');"
              else if (cmdresult=="Email Already") then
              requestUSER = "alert('Your E-Mail is already registered!');window.location = 'register.a5w';"
              else if (cmdresult=="Insert Failed") then
              requestUSER = "alert('Insert into new table failed');"
              else if (cmdresult=="Update Failed") then
              requestUSER = "alert('Update table failed " +New_ID +"');"
              else if (cmdresult=="Can't Send Email") then
              requestUSER = "alert('Can't Send Email');"
              else if (cmdresult=="Can't Open Email") then
              requestUSER = "alert('Can't Open Email');"
              else if (cmdresult=="Close Failed") then
              requestUSER = "alert('Failed Close Database');"
              else
              requestUSER = "alert('Undefined Error, contact your Logistics Analyst');"

                Peter,

                Yes, that's the key here. See how it's looking for a local resource on my pc? Why doesn't publishing to a server tell it to look on the server? "Vince" is a user on my PC. "Administrator" is the user on the server. What about publishing with Alpha to the server tells it to be dependent on my pc?

                  Re: Different behavior on App server from Dev: UX and Grid

                  I found some similar issues outside of the Alpha community regarding the "Uncaught SyntaxError: Unexpected token '<'" problem that seems common to all of my issues. The answer is "finding html instead of javascript."

                  But that baffles me. How can clicking on an item in a grid to get a detail record be inserting html? I used the Alpha grid builder to set this up, so it doesn't make sense that html is getting in the way.

                  You can see this problem popping up if you go to https://mavis.katmaicorp.com/COVE/test3.a5w. It has a grid that I created just for testing this, and the problem is there again.

                            Ran every possibility to ground.

                            The only question I have is regarding publishing to a Windows 2012 server. Is there some kind of setting in the Windows server that would conflict with Alpha?

                            Capture.PNG

                            I rebooted the server that the app server runs on and these are the errors it encountered.

                              So the last ditch effort that I tried this morning:

                              Downgraded app and dev to 5667-5254. Did the full install on both.

                              Did bulk operation: update UX components on all UX modules.

                              Tested locally: the entire application performed perfectly in the dev environment.

                              Ensured all settings were the same for the app and dev servers.

                              Published ALL FILES, including security files to the app server.

                              Rebooted dev and app machines.

                              Tried the app server version and it still has the problem.
