Bonus TIPS for Successful Posting

Try a Search First
It is highly recommended that a Search be done on your topic before posting, as many questions have been answered in prior posts. As with any search engine, the shorter the search term, the more "hits" will be returned, but the more specific the search term is, the greater the relevance of those "hits". Searching for "table" might well return every message on the board while "tablesum" would greatly restrict the number of messages returned.

When you do post
First, make sure you are posting your question in the correct forum. For example, if you post an issue regarding Desktop applications on the Mobile & Browser Applications board , not only will your question not be seen by the appropriate audience, it may also be removed or relocated.

The more detail you provide about your problem or question, the more likely someone is to understand your request and be able to help. A sample database with a minimum of records (and its support files, zipped together) will make it much easier to diagnose issues with your application. Screen shots of error messages are especially helpful.

When explaining how to reproduce your problem, please be as detailed as possible. Describe every step, click-by-click and keypress-by-keypress. Otherwise when others try to duplicate your problem, they may do something slightly different and end up with different results.

A note about attachments
You may only attach one file to each message. Attachment file size is limited to 2MB. If you need to include several files, you may do so by zipping them into a single archive.

If you forgot to attach your files to your post, please do NOT create a new thread. Instead, reply to your original message and attach the file there.

When attaching screen shots, it is best to attach an image file (.BMP, .JPG, .GIF, .PNG, etc.) or a zip file of several images, as opposed to a Word document containing the screen shots. Because Word documents are prone to viruses, many message board users will not open your Word file, therefore limiting their ability to help you.

Similarly, if you are uploading a zipped archive, you should simply create a .ZIP file and not a self-extracting .EXE as many users will not run your EXE file.

    Filtered list is prompting to save changes before closing....

    Hi All...

    So for the life of me I cannot find where or why this is happening. I have a UX that has button on it called "Renew". When the user clicks it it opens a list with a listing of last years excess policies. On the UX that is opened from the Renew button is a field that has the value the list is filtered on. In the list is a "Select" button for each record. When you click it it populates a field with the ID of the record that was selected. The ultimate goal is to pass that value back to the UX that has the Renew button. That part I'm not up to yet but have a number of ideas on how/what to do. If I try to close the UX that was opened from the Renew button it is asking me to hit Reset or Save my changes. The two fields that are on the UX are unbound.

    I'm missing simple and I just am not seeing it.

    Any suggestions would be appreciated.

    Thanks
    Joe

    It obviously thinks the UX is dirty.
    Somewhere in the setup that opens that list should be the option to "Warn before closing if windows is dirty".
    Be sure to uncheck that box.

      How, specifically, are you updating / populating those 2 fields?

        Thanks for the feedback...

        Gregg...that is the setting I'm trying to find and can't. I also thought it was a validation setting but that didn't help or change anything. I tried looking at the button that opens the UX but I don't see anything there that marks it dirty.

        David...the two fields are PROID and XSID. The PROID is populated by passing an argument on the Renew button to that UX. The PROID default is set to =:PROID_ARG. I use the PROID field to filter the list for showing all of the related records. The XSID is populated when you click the Select button that is on each row. That I'm doing right now just to see if I can grab the ID value on button from the list. Once I get past the not being able to close the window I have to pass that value to the UX that this all started from (where the Renew button was).

          Again... specifically... how are you setting the value for XSID. What code are you using to set the value into the XSID control? That's probably making the UX dirty. If you're using .setValue(), then use the optional flag [honorChangeEvent] for .setValue()... e.g.

          Code:
          {dialog.Object}.setValue('XSID',yourValue,false);

            Okay...I found it finally...On the Open UX Component action javascript is "Warn before closing if Component in window is dirty". Gregg thanks for that pointer...just kept looking past it. Now to figure out how to pass the value from the XSID field to the UX that the Renew button is on. I assume I will do that from the onHide Window Javascript Events.

              David...sorry...see below.

              {dialog.Object}.setValueFrom('XSID','list::XS_LAYERS::LIMIT_XS_ID');

              This is on the button that I added on the List Builder, Fields, Button. Then I put that little code on the OnClick of the Button Properties.

                Use .setValue() instead, if you want to have more control over what's going on. There is an inconsistency between .setValue() and .setValueFrom() in that .setValueFrom does not have the option [honorChangeEvent]... although it should have.

                  Sorry if I should know this but what is/does the [honorChangeEvent] do/mean?

                    true sets the UX dirty, false does not.
