Bonus TIPS for Successful Posting

Try a Search First
It is highly recommended that a Search be done on your topic before posting, as many questions have been answered in prior posts. As with any search engine, the shorter the search term, the more "hits" will be returned, but the more specific the search term is, the greater the relevance of those "hits". Searching for "table" might well return every message on the board while "tablesum" would greatly restrict the number of messages returned.

When you do post
First, make sure you are posting your question in the correct forum. For example, if you post an issue regarding Desktop applications on the Mobile & Browser Applications board , not only will your question not be seen by the appropriate audience, it may also be removed or relocated.

The more detail you provide about your problem or question, the more likely someone is to understand your request and be able to help. A sample database with a minimum of records (and its support files, zipped together) will make it much easier to diagnose issues with your application. Screen shots of error messages are especially helpful.

When explaining how to reproduce your problem, please be as detailed as possible. Describe every step, click-by-click and keypress-by-keypress. Otherwise when others try to duplicate your problem, they may do something slightly different and end up with different results.

A note about attachments
You may only attach one file to each message. Attachment file size is limited to 2MB. If you need to include several files, you may do so by zipping them into a single archive.

If you forgot to attach your files to your post, please do NOT create a new thread. Instead, reply to your original message and attach the file there.

When attaching screen shots, it is best to attach an image file (.BMP, .JPG, .GIF, .PNG, etc.) or a zip file of several images, as opposed to a Word document containing the screen shots. Because Word documents are prone to viruses, many message board users will not open your Word file, therefore limiting their ability to help you.

Similarly, if you are uploading a zipped archive, you should simply create a .ZIP file and not a self-extracting .EXE as many users will not run your EXE file.

    problem printing report to pdf

    We recently updated to version 12.4.6.1.3 Build 6232 system addins 5386

    Now there is popping up an error when printing a report to pdf:
    Something like: Error executing ajax callback aaaa Report Server: Amyuni Low Level Print: Layout name: xxxxx.a5rpt Layout type: The system cannot find the file specified.
    a5_temp_yyyyyy.dbf at line: 585.
    with aaaa the name of the callback function. xxxx the name of the report and yyyy a temp name from alpha for the file.

    This error pops up with several prints and all say dbf at line: 585
    If printed again it might work immediately or after some trying.

    We are working with a mysql backend so there are no dbf files on our side being used.

    The structure in the ajax callback is:
    "
    dim strFilename as c = Request.GetRequestTempFileName("pdf")
    a5w_report_saveAs(request.applicationRoot + strReportname+".a5rpt","pdf",filter,order,strfilename,global_variables(),printOptions,args,options)

    if file.exists(strfilename)
    Session.SaveDataAsFile(strFilenameuser,file.to_blob(strfilename))
    jscmd = "window.open('"+Session.FormatFileDataURL(strFilenameuser)+"');"
    end if
    "

    At this moment I think that the yyyy.dbf file is a temporary file created by/in the a5w_report_saveas function.
    So probably I cannot do much about.

    Has anybody seen this type of messages before?
    Is my analysis correct?
    Is there something to be done about it?

    thanks in advance

    Pieter

    I don't see that issue, but it is printing the last page twice. Possibly more than one bug in this release.

    I'm using a SQL select with an IN() filter where it is a list of primary keys.

      Peter, was this resolved? I just updated to 6232 and am randomly having the same thing happen.

        Re: problem printing report to pdf

        For what it's worth i'm currently on 6348 and my a5w_report_saveAs() methods are not experiencing any problems. Being that 6232 is an older build reporting the bug to Alpha will only get you a "update to the latest build and try again" reply. Also, I don't create a temp file like Pieter does. It's not necessary (at least in my case it isn't). Below is sample code that I use to create invoice PDF's in my app.

        Code:
                'Create the invoice PDF on server
        	'Print options to optimize reports for webprinting
        	dim PrintOptions as p
                    PrintOptions.LinearizeForWeb = .T.
                    PrintOptions.EmbedFonts = .T.
                    PrintOptions.JpegQuality = "No Compression"
        	'Location of the report on the server
                dim invoiceReport as c = ""
                    invoiceReport = "c:\a5Webroot" + chr(92) + "Invoice.a5rpt"
        	'Name of the PDF file to create
                dim invoiceFileName as c = ""
                    invoiceFileName = "invoice_" + convert_type(e.dataSubmitted.Invoice_ID,"c") + "_" + remspecial(convert_type(now(),"c")) + ".pdf"
        	'Save created PDF to this folder
                dim fileDestination as c = ""
                    fileDestination = "c:\tempReports" + chr(92) + invoiceFileName
        	dim finalInvoiceFile as c = ""

        	args.Set("INVOICE_ID",invoice_num)

        	finalInvoiceFile = a5w_report_saveAs(invoiceReport,"PDF","","",fileDestination,null_value(),PrintOptions,Args)

          Hi Carol,

          It is not resolved in 6232 :)
          But as Mike is saying it might be resolved in 6348 but we haven't upgraded to that version yet.
          As of now it doesn't happen often and the instruction if it happens is just press the button again and then it works :)

            WIN10 updates sometimes trash the Amyuni driver... I tried to attach the Amyuni driver install files but they would not upload (I get an exclamation mark) :-(

            I think that A5V12 has an X-Basic command to reinstall but it didn't work for me. Instead check the A5V12 directory in the Programs(x86) directory... look for AmyumiV5 subdirectory...
            just run the install .exe.

            Hope this works for you.
