Bonus TIPS for Successful Posting

Try a Search First
It is highly recommended that a Search be done on your topic before posting, as many questions have been answered in prior posts. As with any search engine, the shorter the search term, the more "hits" will be returned, but the more specific the search term is, the greater the relevance of those "hits". Searching for "table" might well return every message on the board while "tablesum" would greatly restrict the number of messages returned.

When you do post
First, make sure you are posting your question in the correct forum. For example, if you post an issue regarding Desktop applications on the Mobile & Browser Applications board , not only will your question not be seen by the appropriate audience, it may also be removed or relocated.

The more detail you provide about your problem or question, the more likely someone is to understand your request and be able to help. A sample database with a minimum of records (and its support files, zipped together) will make it much easier to diagnose issues with your application. Screen shots of error messages are especially helpful.

When explaining how to reproduce your problem, please be as detailed as possible. Describe every step, click-by-click and keypress-by-keypress. Otherwise when others try to duplicate your problem, they may do something slightly different and end up with different results.

A note about attachments
You may only attach one file to each message. Attachment file size is limited to 2MB. If you need to include several files, you may do so by zipping them into a single archive.

If you forgot to attach your files to your post, please do NOT create a new thread. Instead, reply to your original message and attach the file there.

When attaching screen shots, it is best to attach an image file (.BMP, .JPG, .GIF, .PNG, etc.) or a zip file of several images, as opposed to a Word document containing the screen shots. Because Word documents are prone to viruses, many message board users will not open your Word file, therefore limiting their ability to help you.

Similarly, if you are uploading a zipped archive, you should simply create a .ZIP file and not a self-extracting .EXE as many users will not run your EXE file.

    Count records in list control with specific value

    I want to retrieve the count in Javascript of the number of records with a specific value. Let's say for example:

    List control: orderitems
    field with value: price
    value to count: 3.99

    So, I want a count of all the records with the price of 3.99. I can get a total record count, but want to get it of just the ones with the specific value. I'm sure I'm overthinking this again.

    Thanks in advance!

    This is what I had working for a grid component. Now I'm using a List control and need to figure out the same.

    what we're basically doing is looking for a specific flag, 'PROMO' or 'PROMO2' and setting a specific price if count is 5 or greater or 7 or greater respectively.

    Code:
    function promoCount(){

    	var Repeatingsection = {Dialog.object}._harvestRepeatingSection('CONTAINER_3');
    		var total = 0;
    			for (i = 0; i < Repeatingsection.length; i++) {
      			  if (Repeatingsection[i].PROMO) {
        		    total++
      		}
    	}
    	{Dialog.object}.setValue('rowcount', total);

    	var Repeatingsection = {Dialog.object}._harvestRepeatingSection('CONTAINER_3');
    		var total = 0;
    			for (i = 0; i < Repeatingsection.length; i++) {
      			  if (Repeatingsection[i].PROMO2) {
        		    total++
      		}
    	}
    	{Dialog.object}.setValue('rowcount2', total);

    }

    function setPromoprice(){

    	var p1 = {dialog.Object}.getValue('promoprice');
    	var p2 = {dialog.Object}.getValue('promoprice2');
    	var rc = {dialog.object}.getValue('rowcount');
    	var rc2 = {dialog.object}.getValue('rowcount2');
    	var rows = {dialog.Object}._getRepeatingSectionRowCount('CONTAINER_3');
    		for (var i = 1; i < rows+1; i++) {
    			{dialog.Object}.setRepeatingSectionActiveRow('CONTAINER_3',i);

    	var d2 = {dialog.Object}.getValue('promo');
    		if (d2 == true && rc % 5 === 0) {
    			{dialog.Object}.setValue('Price',p1);
    		}

    	var d2 = {dialog.Object}.getValue('promo2');
    		if (d2 == true && rc2 % 7 === 0) {
    			{dialog.Object}.setValue('Price',p2);
    		}
    	}

    }v

      Looks like a Repeating Section in a UX... not a grid.

        Yeah. That too. LOL.
        It's late and I've been staring at the computer screen too long.

          This is where Javascript becomes fun. There are a few way to do this... and because the List control gives you a data object one way is to use .filter.

          Code:
          var lData = {dialog.Object}.getListData('LIST1');
          var fnData = lData.filter(function(fn){
          	return fn.FIRSTNAME ==='Freddy';
          });
          var fnCount = fnData.length;
          This can also be written as...

          Code:
          var fnData2 = lData.filter(fn2 => fn2.FIRSTNAME === 'Freddy');
          var fnCount2 = fnData2.length;
          If you want to go after multiple values... as you indicated... then...

          Code:
          var fnPromo = lData.filter(function(promo){
          	return ["Fred","Freddy"].indexOf(promo.FIRSTNAME) != -1;
          });
          var fnCount = fnPromo.length;
          .filters returns an array of objects (your List rows) which you then count using .length.

            Perfect! Now, for the twist. Check all the rows with that specific value. I would assume we'd use setCheckedValues() method, but if the list is set to return Primary Value, how do you get it to return all values so you can filter by value?

            I'm trying to select all values with PRICE = 2.99 for example, then change the price to 1.99 if there's 5 or more. Figured if I got them checked then I could change the value of the checked rows. That part I know how to do. Or am I adding an unnecessary step?
