Bonus TIPS for Successful Posting

Try a Search First
It is highly recommended that a Search be done on your topic before posting, as many questions have been answered in prior posts. As with any search engine, the shorter the search term, the more "hits" will be returned, but the more specific the search term is, the greater the relevance of those "hits". Searching for "table" might well return every message on the board while "tablesum" would greatly restrict the number of messages returned.

When you do post
First, make sure you are posting your question in the correct forum. For example, if you post an issue regarding Desktop applications on the Mobile & Browser Applications board , not only will your question not be seen by the appropriate audience, it may also be removed or relocated.

The more detail you provide about your problem or question, the more likely someone is to understand your request and be able to help. A sample database with a minimum of records (and its support files, zipped together) will make it much easier to diagnose issues with your application. Screen shots of error messages are especially helpful.

When explaining how to reproduce your problem, please be as detailed as possible. Describe every step, click-by-click and keypress-by-keypress. Otherwise when others try to duplicate your problem, they may do something slightly different and end up with different results.

A note about attachments
You may only attach one file to each message. Attachment file size is limited to 2MB. If you need to include several files, you may do so by zipping them into a single archive.

If you forgot to attach your files to your post, please do NOT create a new thread. Instead, reply to your original message and attach the file there.

When attaching screen shots, it is best to attach an image file (.BMP, .JPG, .GIF, .PNG, etc.) or a zip file of several images, as opposed to a Word document containing the screen shots. Because Word documents are prone to viruses, many message board users will not open your Word file, therefore limiting their ability to help you.

Similarly, if you are uploading a zipped archive, you should simply create a .ZIP file and not a self-extracting .EXE as many users will not run your EXE file.

Get results for Week to Date and Last Week

    Hi
In a mobile dashboard i am just building ( backend is mariadb ), i need to set the following as List data:
    - query for today compared to same day last week - no problem, i run the query for curdate() and curdate()-7
    - query for week-to-date and compare with last week - here i have a problem. I currently use YEARWEEK(curdate()) and for last week i use yearweek( curdate() - INTERVAL 1 WEEK ) but this gives me the results for the whole week, instead of week to date.
So if today we're wednesday, i'd like to compare Sunday to Wednesday this week with Sunday to Wednesday last week. Is it possible to run in a mysql/mariadb query, or will i have to manually build the date ranges using an ajax callback?
Same goes for month to date and year to date.

    Many thanks
    Jaime

Re: Get results for Week to Date and Last Week

    Can't you use between instead?

    ie:

date between curdate() - interval 7 day and curdate() (for this week)

date between curdate() - interval 14 day and curdate() - interval 7 day (for last week)

Re: Get results for Week to Date and Last Week

      Hi Jaime,

I create my own functions in MySQL to make things easier to do as well as for readability.
This doesn't play well with Alpha's portable sql, but if you write your own, it make things quite simple.
The code below creates a MySQL function named startofweek() with a date parameter.
the format : select startofweek(curdate()) or select startofweek(curdate()-interval 1 week) will return '2020-01-19' or '2020-01-12' if it were done today (January 25, 2020).

If I understand what you're looking for, your query would be [ select * from table where dataDate between startofweek(curdate()) and curdate(); ] for this week, or
[select * from table where dataDate between startofweek(curdate()-interval 1 week) and curdate()-interval 1 week; ] for last week.

      Code:
-- This code was tested using MySQL
CREATE FUNCTION startofweek (refdate date) RETURNS date
      BEGIN
      return refdate - interval (DAYOFWEEK(refdate)-1) day;
      END;
      Gregg
https://paiza.io is a great site to test and share sql code
