Bonus TIPS for Successful Posting

Try a Search First
It is highly recommended that a Search be done on your topic before posting, as many questions have been answered in prior posts. As with any search engine, the shorter the search term, the more "hits" will be returned, but the more specific the search term is, the greater the relevance of those "hits". Searching for "table" might well return every message on the board while "tablesum" would greatly restrict the number of messages returned.

When you do post
First, make sure you are posting your question in the correct forum. For example, if you post an issue regarding Desktop applications on the Mobile & Browser Applications board , not only will your question not be seen by the appropriate audience, it may also be removed or relocated.

The more detail you provide about your problem or question, the more likely someone is to understand your request and be able to help. A sample database with a minimum of records (and its support files, zipped together) will make it much easier to diagnose issues with your application. Screen shots of error messages are especially helpful.

When explaining how to reproduce your problem, please be as detailed as possible. Describe every step, click-by-click and keypress-by-keypress. Otherwise when others try to duplicate your problem, they may do something slightly different and end up with different results.

A note about attachments
You may only attach one file to each message. Attachment file size is limited to 2MB. If you need to include several files, you may do so by zipping them into a single archive.

If you forgot to attach your files to your post, please do NOT create a new thread. Instead, reply to your original message and attach the file there.

When attaching screen shots, it is best to attach an image file (.BMP, .JPG, .GIF, .PNG, etc.) or a zip file of several images, as opposed to a Word document containing the screen shots. Because Word documents are prone to viruses, many message board users will not open your Word file, therefore limiting their ability to help you.

Similarly, if you are uploading a zipped archive, you should simply create a .ZIP file and not a self-extracting .EXE as many users will not run your EXE file.

Adding rows to a repeating section of a UX

    Re: Adding rows to a repeating section of a UX

    Set the 4th argument of ._setRepeatingSectionRowCount to true. This will null out the RS values and doesn't seem to cause the problem. This seems to be a bug.

    Code:
    DupChosenRec = "{dialog.Object}._setRepeatingSectionRowCount('REPEATINGSECTION_1',"+rsCount+",true,true);"+ setVal
    There is also a bug in the 3rd argument - setting focus to the 1st or last row. If false, the first time you load the RS the first row has focus... where it should be the last. If you run the callback again, the last row will get focus... with the last row having focus from then on.

    You should report both these bugs.

      Thanks for testing and figuring out what's happening. Very helpful. I'll report the bug.

        thanks.

        i am not so sure that there is a bug here. I have recorded a video showing various repeating section commands working as intended

                Re: Adding rows to a repeating section of a UX

                Selwyn,

                Thanks for your prompt reply, but I think there is still an issue, and it seems to be occurring when all the code is placed on one button. This would explain why it happens on a callback. This is the code I put on one button:
                Code:
                var qty = {dialog.object}.getValue('Quantity')

                var flagSetFocusToFirstRow = {dialog.object}.getValue('flagSetFocusToFirstRow')
                var flagSetRowDataToNull = {dialog.object}.getValue('flagSetRowDataToNull')

                {dialog.Object}._setRepeatingSectionRowCount('REPEATINGSECTION_1',Number(qty),flagSetFocusToFirstRow,flagSetRowDataToNull);
                for(var i = 1; i <= Number(qty); i ++) {
                	{dialog.object}.setValue('LASTNAME:' + i ,'Smith' + i );
                }
                $('pre1').innerHTML = 'set repeating section row count: ' + qty + '<br>flagSetFocusToFirstRow: ' + flagSetFocusToFirstRow + '<br>flagSetRowDataToNull: ' + flagSetRowDataToNull
                It doesn't happen the first time after initial load. I can increase immediately upon load, and they all fill in correctly. But, if quantity is decreased, button is pressed, and then quantity is increased, the increased repeating sections will not be written. Again, it only happens when the SetRowDataToNull is false. For my purpose, and probably anyone who is looping through and changing the entire repeating section, you'd probably want to nullify all the data in the rows because you'd likely be I'm rewriting everything.

                Is my understanding correct there?

                  Brad,
                  A number of your rows are missing the ; at the ends of the lines.
                  Is that the way your actual code is, or did you transcribe it and leave them off in the transcription?

                    Re: Adding rows to a repeating section of a UX

                    I just removed all semi-colons from my code and it doesn't seem to matter in this case. I wouldn't leave them off but, if there were an adverse effect would be a console error and not unusual behaviour.

                    Code:
                    var qty = {dialog.Object}.getValue('Quantity')
                    {dialog.Object}._setRepeatingSectionRowCount('REPEATINGSECTION_1',Number(qty),true,true)

                    for(var i=1; i<=Number(qty); i++){
                    	{dialog.object}.setValue('LASTNAME:' + i,'Smith2')
                    }

                      David,

                      I just got a message from Selwyn. He found the bug, and it should be fix. Here's a video link of his explanation:

                      https://www.screencast.com/t/asblWHowUGC

                      He also made this release note:
                      UX Component - Repeating Section - .setValue() Method - The .setValue() method allows you to set the value in a specific row in the Repeating Section. For example, {dialog.object}.setValue('LASTNAME:3','Smith') should set the value of the LASTNAME control in the 3rd logical row in the Repeating Section. This failed if the Repeating Section had been previously resized to a number of rows that was smaller than its original size and then increased to a number of rows greater than its original size.
