Bonus TIPS for Successful Posting

Try a Search First
It is highly recommended that a Search be done on your topic before posting, as many questions have been answered in prior posts. As with any search engine, the shorter the search term, the more "hits" will be returned, but the more specific the search term is, the greater the relevance of those "hits". Searching for "table" might well return every message on the board while "tablesum" would greatly restrict the number of messages returned.

When you do post
First, make sure you are posting your question in the correct forum. For example, if you post an issue regarding Desktop applications on the Mobile & Browser Applications board , not only will your question not be seen by the appropriate audience, it may also be removed or relocated.

The more detail you provide about your problem or question, the more likely someone is to understand your request and be able to help. A sample database with a minimum of records (and its support files, zipped together) will make it much easier to diagnose issues with your application. Screen shots of error messages are especially helpful.

When explaining how to reproduce your problem, please be as detailed as possible. Describe every step, click-by-click and keypress-by-keypress. Otherwise when others try to duplicate your problem, they may do something slightly different and end up with different results.

A note about attachments
You may only attach one file to each message. Attachment file size is limited to 2MB. If you need to include several files, you may do so by zipping them into a single archive.

If you forgot to attach your files to your post, please do NOT create a new thread. Instead, reply to your original message and attach the file there.

When attaching screen shots, it is best to attach an image file (.BMP, .JPG, .GIF, .PNG, etc.) or a zip file of several images, as opposed to a Word document containing the screen shots. Because Word documents are prone to viruses, many message board users will not open your Word file, therefore limiting their ability to help you.

Similarly, if you are uploading a zipped archive, you should simply create a .ZIP file and not a self-extracting .EXE as many users will not run your EXE file.

    MUF & RMUF Creation

    Hi
Not been around for a very long time. Just purchased a AAv12 perpetual license - previously used v11.

Having loaded an app that has been running for 13 years without issue, now running in AAv12 I've come across several anomalies. The first is MUF/RMUF files do not get created. As I use the "user count" functions to see how many users are running, I need to sort this out. Hopefully someone will have some insight as to why these files are not being created.

    Regards
    Chris

    Re: MUF & RMUF Creation

Well I can't answer for that version Chris, but my old version of V12 creates the MUF file in the root Folder.
    Although this is supposed to be for V10, it seems to work on my old V12;

    ? a5_registration_license_inuse("C:\Data\AlphaSports.muf")
    = 0

Are you looking in the right place?

      Re: MUF & RMUF Creation

      Hi Ted
Thanks for response. a .MUF or .RMUF file is definitely not created in any folder on my system with AAv12. I've looked manually as well as doing a windows search on the whole hard drive. The application I'm testing is a solid app I've been using for years.

Using the a5_registration_license_inuse() produces 0 every time, and, using the newer Ex function also produces no output. This was tested with 2 x AAv12 developer users and 3 AAv12 runtime users - All show 0 users and no MUF/RMUF files to be found.

I think it might be either an installation issue or a bug.

        Re: MUF & RMUF Creation

        The IW shows this
        ? a5_registration_license_inuse("D:\Alpha Five\Tabs\lation.MUF")
        = 1

I launched V12 and selected the folder where the V11 application is.
Clicked the .adb file and it loaded.
Then I ran the a5_.... and got the above.

So, suggest you try launching from the original V11 folder if you still have it.
If not, you may need to recreate the app under V12 as the requisite files should be created if missing, automatically.

You could also send me a copy and a login and I will test it here.

          Re: MUF & RMUF Creation

Sorry, still can't make it work. However, I've found a function which solves my problem - a5instancecount()

          Thanks for trying to help
