Can we use the following of a detail link to edit same record? I would like to increment a field ie: displaying the number of times a record is viewed.

    Thanks

If you use a dialog component to link from, you could place code in the the server validated event that would increment a value in the record just before the link is activated.

I am using a grid component which seems to be the preferable way to display a record. Is there a way to achieve this?

You can do this if you create an interim page that you will need to manually create using Xbasic. Have your hyperlink go to this interim page which has th code to increment your value, then use response.redirect to go to the ultimate destination page which contains your grid component.
