    Default filter option in Search

    Hi,

In Holland our ZIP code is like 9999 XX.
In a search I want to find people that live in a certain ZIP area, for instance from 2200 till 2300.
If I enter 22, I get all ZIPs that contain 22.
    If I enter ", I get all zips " 2200.
What should I enter to search the 2200 AA till 2399 ZZ range?

    Greetings, René

    Rene,

    try the "between()" code

That is if your field name is zip

    between(zip,"2200 AA","2399 ZZ")

    You can try it here:

    Postcode means ZIP

If there is a solution by using two search fields (From and included and To and included) it is ok, but how should I do this in the Grid Builder?

the search part of a grid component supports the same query by form syntax that a5's desktop forms support.

so, to find zipcodes in the range: 2200 AA till 2399 ZZ, you would enter

    2200 AA..2399 ZZ

you should refer to the help file for an explanation of the query by form syntax. other examples:

..2399 ZZ ---" means all zips up to and including 2399zz

2200 AA.. ---" means all zips after and including 2200AA.

you can also use the greater than, less than and equal sign in your searches

i should also mention that you can do multiple ranges.

    for example:

    2200 AA..2399 ZZ,2500 AA..2600 ZZ

would search for records within two ranges of records.

the QBF syntax that the search part of the grid supports is quite flexible and powerful.

    Thanks, Selwyn,

I'm sorry, I'm still overwhelmed by the enormous amount of Help texts.

I still am not completely used to the Alpha slang.

Your examples are of great help.

    greetings, René
