    Default Customizing lookup tables

    Lookup tables are great in A5 but there are certain aspects that I wish to have some control over. For instance, I would like to control the title in the title bar, and I would like to eliminate the Locate button. Can these be done? Will they be able to be done in version 5?

    I can easily create my own lookupo tables using dialog boxes, and have begun to do so. But it would take a lot of work to do this throughout my entire application, so I was wondering if there is an easier way.

    Any help would be appreciated.

    have you looked at ui_get_list_array? It pops up a box where you specify the title, and it has two buttons, OK and Cancel (No locate button)

    Here is my code - you will have to put in your own tables, fields and variables.

    Check it out

    '''''''''''''open asstc and set index to Assy

    loc = dir_get()
    tbl = Table.Open("assytc.dbf")
    indx = tbl.index_get("Assy1")
    tbl.index_primary_put(indx)
    num = indx.records_get()

    ''''''''create and fill array of Assemblies
    DIM listA (num) as C
    tbl.Fetch_First()
    FOR i = 1 TO num
    listA(i) = tbl.Assy+" "+tbl.Assitem
    tbl.Fetch_Next()
    NEXT i

    grp = ui_get_list_array("Select Assembly group",1,"listA")
    if grp = ""
    end
    end if
    Vassy = alltrim(substr(grp,1,12))
    Vassitem = alltrim(substr(grp,13,13))

    Yes, I have used arrays, but I really am looking to customize lookup tables, that can be added to, deleted from, etc.

    I have read that version 5 will offer more control in this area.

    gary - i finally figured out to send an attachment - i think you can only send one as a new message and not a reply so it is in a new post with the same name - anyway - the code is obviously an implementation of one of dr wayne's scripts, an idea from jake vucovich, and even a few of my own - hope this helps - i use it in almost all my lookups, as the the lookup - a form opened as dialog - can have lots of code stored there to help, give feedback, etc.
