We use Peer to Peer with Windows NT & 2000,Alpha 4 v6(and v7 on some), worked fine until we got the "Blaster" virus. Under licensed users shows a count of 1, we have bought the network licences, our computer tech. says the person ahead of her wrote a script to see all the computers, should we reload each version to get the licence count correct? or should we just have one loaded on the server?
Our computer tech. got rid of the virus, the server computer is ok but the other computers lock in Alpha after every 2 or 3 invoices that we write.
To get it to work again we reboot, click start menu and right click on network drive icons (they show a red "x", which goes away when we click on them)
Our comp tech put in a Novell dedicated server, everything worked for 5 invoices, then one computer became disconnected from the network, a warning message comes up whenever you open alpha that says "Illegal command line drive/path specified--will be ignored"
everything except the one computer worked fine for a week, 2 associates of comp. tech came and looked at them, and we lost 4 connections and are down to 1 computer, they were checking cable connections. I right clicked on the Alphaicon on the computer that was working, the properties were:
C:\Dyno-SBA.BAT
Start in C:\
When I closed out of the icon,it wouldn't work, and after serveral reboots, the computer saw the network. The comp. techs left, I right clicked on the icon to check properties again and it wouldn't network again.
On another computer that now doesn't work, the target was C:\ALPHA4V6\alpha_NOVELL.bat
another, C:\ALPHA4V7\alpha_start2.bat
another, C:\DYNO-SBAnovell.BAT
keep in mind none of the targets have been changed.
Thanks for any help, Rich Daly
