Alpha Four V. 2 Auto dialer Compatibility

I am looking for autodialer software compatible with above Dos version.
Anyone familiar with any company or products that are compatible.
Any leads would be greatly appreciated.

I never did version 2 but, did you know that Alpha4 ver 6 does have dialer. You might consider an upgrade if version 2 does not.

Here's another idea. Make a batch file thus.........

Dial.bat
========
echo atdt%1>Com2 [or whatever your modem is operating on]

Now: Make a keystroke script using 'exec' script command that runs the batch file with the phone number variable.

Dial Script
===========
{set %phono,[field name that holds that number]}
{exe "dial.bat"+" "+%phono,0,0}

This script will pass the phone number to the batch file and complete the number to dial.

I haven't tested this for exact syntax; if you use your scripting skills you can pull it off.

You might name the script CTRLF8 so you can operate it with a keystroke. Let me know how you do with it.

I'm not sure if the script commands 'EXECCLR' or 'EXEC' are even available in Alpha V2 - but - if hey are, here's a solution.

Been thinking about your dialer problem. Here's something I've even debugged and it works. The script uses the scrip command 'Exec' working in a dos shell under the Alpha screen. On my modem setup, the 'hangup' is 'timed out' and the modem is then released about 30 seconds after the called number hangs up.

You could, however, make another key-script, however, to hang it up sooner using the 'Exec' command attached to a script called CTRLF7 for example and issue that script when you want to hang up sooner.

{*The 'Set' command above is the string that is passed to dos - I.E. "DIAL.BAT 123456" without the qoutes of course. I like to build the entire string into a variable so you can see what's being passed to dos at execution - you know the 'Varables' list in the script editor utility*}

Say, Bill, I've tried this with a record opened and unsaved and it works! It'll bring you right back where you left the form with the number. You must figure how to get the number into the variable. You will, of course have to see which comport holds your modem be it COM1 or COM2-3-4 or whatever. You will then edit the batch files to employ the correct port.
