    Default find father record(s)

I would like to know if the idea of
Query "father" records in a set based on a specific child record(s)

ie: show me the record(s) of all member(s) that has a child with first name = "johnny"

I really like to see this on a typical browse.

what would be the appropriete way to do ?

    Thanks

I have no idea what a "typical" browse is. If you open the default browse for a set, open the query genie, you can specify the table to select fields from, the "operator", and the value.

The records returned in such a query are "composite" records consisting of a parent/father record with the appropriate children.

Is this not what you want?

    ken,

If your 'typical' browse is an embedded browse object, displaying child table records, I don't think you can easily do it in A5V4. The next version presents Cross-Level queries which would cover this case. You might experiment with the flattenquery() method, but I've never mastered it myself.

If this kind of query were facing me, I'd use a new set, inverting the original order of the tables in the set design. I'd make the child table parent. I'd link the original parent table as child using a 1:1 link.
