    Default lost field rules

My field rules have become scrambled again. This happened before to a different table. I think it happens after an edit. Is there some way to restore the field rules from a backup (copied files) without affecting the data in the table as the records have changed since the scramble? Can I copy files over and if so what files? Has the problem been identified and is there soemthing to watch for? I have read some previous archive items but nothing to definitive about the issue.

Very frustrating when you are just trying to keep your head above water and a wave comes in.

    Larry,

At the risk of gilding Stan's lilly, if you copy over the existing DDD,DDM, DDX files for your table using copies from a good backup, you will restore your table's dictionaries. This will restore the field rules and all layouts (and all the other stuff Stan mentions.) There's no way to restore just the field rules. Doing this will of course eliminate any enhancements you've made in field rules or your layouts since your last backup. However, none of your data will be affected.
