    Default Lookups

    Hi Phorum,

I have a form on a set that has 3 fields that use lookup tables. All 3 were setup
using the same approach. The first 1 works Ok, the next 2, I have to click on the small down arrow for the choices to appear. Clue ... the ones that do not work properly are the same table. I compare all settings of the 3 fields and they are identical, there are no typos because I chose the fields to lookup from the tables
list. If I click the pulldown arrow for the lookup choices to appear, they fill in properly. Any ideas, mine are getting old? Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Thank you as always for your time,
    efs

    Ed,

You say you have, "3 fields that use lookup tables".

Are these lookup tables you defined in field rules for the table or lookup functions: Lookup(), or Lookupd()

If the latter, show us how you filled in the function.

If the former, why would you expect the field to fill before you selected it? You could add a default value using the lookup() function, then it would show, and you could still change it with the lookup table.

    Keep us posted.

    Hi Thomas,

The lookup was defined in field rules. The field was definitely
entered, and the pull-down arrow was present. Clicking on the arrow
produced the desired list to make my choice.

    Ed,

Compare the setting in field rules for 'Auto pop-up'. They should all be set to pop-up on entrance. This works when entering a NEW record. If you are editing an EXISTIING record the auto pop-up doesn't pop, you have to push the triangle icon, or use Alt-Dn I believe, to pop it up.

    Hi Tom,
Auto-popup on entrance is selected in each case and I am always
    creating a new record.

    Thank you for responding,

Ed, there must be something else going on.

Post a working model here, and furnish the exact sequence we need to follow to see the problem.

    Hi Tom,

It zipped down to 1.04 megs so I'll try to post it here. If it won't
take the extra 40K can I send it to your home addy?

    Hi Tom,

It couldn't handle the extra 40k so I'll await your permission.

    Thank you,
