I have a problem adding records to a lookup table. There are 3 tables involved:
Hire.dbf:
Location
Barrel
Date_loaded
Date_emptied
Product
etc.
Barrel.dbf:
Barrel
Location
Haulier
Daily_cost
etc.
Haulier.dbf:
Haulier
Name
Address
etc.
The lookup field rule for hire->barrel is filtered by location. It allows records to be entered/edited in barrel.dbf.
The lookup field rule for barrel->haulier allows records to be entered/edited in haulier.dbf.
If I enter a new record in the barrel.dbf form I can add a new haulier record on the fly by clicking on Enter when the haulier lookup pops up. Similarly, I can add a new barrel record from the hire.dbf form. Both work OK.
BUT: If I am entering a new record in hire.dbf and click on Enter in the barrel lookup to add a new record in barrel.dbf, then try to add a new haulier record on the fly, I can add the new haulier record, but when I click on OK in the haulier lookup, the haulier field in the barrel form remains blank. Also, the location field cannot be filled, and if I tab down to the next field I get the error message : "a_tbl.daily_cost subelement not found."
Does anybody know what this means? I have not used the name "a_tbl" anywhere in my application. I have tried using the default forms and the error message still appears.
Thanks,
Tony
