Bonus TIPS for Successful Posting

Try a Search First
It is highly recommended that a Search be done on your topic before posting, as many questions have been answered in prior posts. As with any search engine, the shorter the search term, the more "hits" will be returned, but the more specific the search term is, the greater the relevance of those "hits". Searching for "table" might well return every message on the board while "tablesum" would greatly restrict the number of messages returned.

When you do post
First, make sure you are posting your question in the correct forum. For example, if you post an issue regarding Desktop applications on the Mobile & Browser Applications board , not only will your question not be seen by the appropriate audience, it may also be removed or relocated.

The more detail you provide about your problem or question, the more likely someone is to understand your request and be able to help. A sample database with a minimum of records (and its support files, zipped together) will make it much easier to diagnose issues with your application. Screen shots of error messages are especially helpful.

When explaining how to reproduce your problem, please be as detailed as possible. Describe every step, click-by-click and keypress-by-keypress. Otherwise when others try to duplicate your problem, they may do something slightly different and end up with different results.

A note about attachments
You may only attach one file to each message. Attachment file size is limited to 2MB. If you need to include several files, you may do so by zipping them into a single archive.

If you forgot to attach your files to your post, please do NOT create a new thread. Instead, reply to your original message and attach the file there.

When attaching screen shots, it is best to attach an image file (.BMP, .JPG, .GIF, .PNG, etc.) or a zip file of several images, as opposed to a Word document containing the screen shots. Because Word documents are prone to viruses, many message board users will not open your Word file, therefore limiting their ability to help you.

Similarly, if you are uploading a zipped archive, you should simply create a .ZIP file and not a self-extracting .EXE as many users will not run your EXE file.

    PayPal sounds like trouble!
I used it last year, and it worked ok, but if they are in financial trouble, they may take your money and run!

Wow! That site is an eyeopener. I almost used PayPal, but sent Iran a check instead.

I hold no brief for PayPal but someone (I guess that's me) should mention that PayPal is the official credit card acceptance and payment method used by EBay. As such, they have hundreds of thousands, perhaps millions, of users.

Some of those folks may have legitimate gripes but even a cursory look shows that many of the complaints are of the "they treated me like a number not a person" variety.

In my own limited use of PayPal I have been impressed and reassured by the lengths they go to make sure that payors and merchants are legitimate and protected.

          Finian,

Actually, Billpoint is the official eBay payment method. But PayPal handles probably more that Billpoint on eBay as well as anywhere on the web. It is not a perfect service, but it is very economical for both the buyer and merchant for transactions.

There are problems that occasionally crop up in every business, and while I am not defending the poor customer service of PayPal, it does work for most people. They have a tremendous problem of dealing with the extreme amount of fraud that occurs on the internet with credit cards, and do fairly well.

The web site you list may just be a sort of "B#tch web page", which many people on the web often do to get back at someone/some company they believe has done them wrong.

The A5 conference also accepts payments in US funds (including international money orders), but if not in US funds, would have to charge about another $30 for the banks processing fees for international funds.

I have paid by PayPal and have been E-mailed back by everyone concernd to confirm the transaction. It was a bit of a problem to get my Registration Number to start with, but once I had done that, it was very simple to make the payment.

Looking forward to meeting all you good folks.

Rides from the airport are no problem. There are eleventyseven limo/jitneys. Look for one that says Burlington.
