Closing Forms

I am sure this is a simple question, but here goes.

I have a menu with buttons to open different forms. On these forms that open, I placed a button to "Return to Main Menu". They work great, all the forms open, but I guess what I need is a way to close the existing open form before opening the new one. I have found that I have numerous forms open at once. How do I do it. The buttons are running a simple built in function of opening a form.

You write "but I guess what I need is a way to close the existing open form before opening the new one" and this is *almost* correct. You want to open your new form first and *then* close the originating form.

The button code to close the current form is
parentform.close()
which you should add to your button's code right after the code which opens the new form so the button code should wind up looking something like

form.view("your_form_name")
parentform.close()
End

If you are using the genie you will see other stuff there as well but the above is the essence of the matter.

Normally you put a button on the forms that closes the form and returns to the form that called it. parentform.close()

Thanks everyone. Problem solved. By the way, I just downloaded the WHAT'S NEW in 5.0 and read it over the weekend. Now I know why everyone is impatient for it to be released. Looks like a gem!
