    Default Form background graphic

    Hi all,

    I am looking for a way to get an object pointer for a forms background graphic. I would like to be able to change the background of a form via xbasic. Anybody have any suggestions? .....thanks

    Doug,
    I don't know if you've already done this, but you can manipulate the bitmap name property in xbasic. Something like this:
    MyForm:Bitmap1.bitmap.filename = "c:picture.bmp"

    The name includes the path and filename if the bitmap type is file, not embedded.

    John.... that is just what I was looking for.

    I looked all through the xbasic explorer for that property but didn't see it.....must have been before i saved the form... cause I looked just now & it was right there!

    thanks John..

    Actually, John's method will change the picture for a bitmap object. The syntax for a form background is slightly different.

    myform.bitmap.filename = "c:/pictures/picture.bmp"

    I use this on a number of forms on the OnInit or OnActivate event. The form is initially set up with a bitmap file specified in the form properties instead of an embedded bitmap.

    A neat variation is to set up a field in either the table that uses the form, or a separate table, to save the name of the bitmap file to use. Then use xbasic to allow the user to select another bitmap if they desire. Save the new file name with path to the field. Then use the command to change the background to the new file name.
