If you define a field as part of the table and use a field rule to calculate the contents you can do what you want.

from the control panel, click on the table you are working with.

    click on the Design button.

In the field definition dialog box, create a new field. If your calculation returns a text value, make it a text field. If your calculation returns a numeric value, make it a numeric field.

After you've defined the new field, select the Table menu from the menu bar, then Field Rules. When the box pops up asking if you wish to save your changes, save the changes.

At the top of the field rules dialog box select the field you just created. Make sure the Field Types tab is selected, and click the Calculated radio button. Then enter the Calculated field expression.

After you are done, select the Rules menu item, the Re-Evaluate Rules item.

If you return to the Control Panel and double click on your table, the default browse should open showing your new field and the results of the calculation. You should be able to export or even open the .dbf table in Excel.
