    Default Rotating Text in Report

    Hello All:

I'm sure (?) that I know the answer to this, but is there a way to rotate text 180 degrees in a report so that some prints right side up and some prints upside down?

    Thank you.

    Hi Charles,

You said, "I'm sure (?) that I know the answer to this". What is your answer? I searched the baod for "rotate text" and found this answer:

This has been hashed out before on the board. The only way to do rotated fonts within A5 is in a tabbed form's tabs. But this turns out to be difficult and unweildy.

The better way is to use a font editor to rotate a font and create a new, rotated font.

Thanks for the reply. Your answer was what I had in mind to do: Create an upside down font, then reverse all text strings that need to print upside down (ie Table Header becomes redeaH elbaT). This should give 180 degree rotated text. When will Alpha 5 catch up with Corel Draw? :)

If anyone has a copy of Times New Roman rotated, I'd appreciate a copy.

    Thanks again.

Charles, I'm not sure of your application but if it were up to me, I'd feed the sheets through the printer twice, using two different report layouts, and reversing the direction of the feed in between.

I have a very narrow (2" tall by 7.5" wide) pre-printed Post Office form that I'm running through my ink jet printer. It is not tall enough to feed through the printer upright, but it is long enough if I turn it sideways. I designed a report on 8.5 x 11 paper and print it in landscape orientation. It prints just fine on the form.

The only catch is the leading edge of the form has a piece of slippery release paper covering up some adhesive glue. This area is only 2" x 2", but it is slippery enough that my printer can't always pick up the form and feed it in. The pickup wheel just spins on the release paper! The other end of the form does not have this release paper. So, if I could rotate the report, I could rotate the form.

I think I will experiment with different printers to see if they can pick up and feed this form more reliably.

    Thanks for your interest!

    Charles
