    Default File locking error message

    On random records I receive the following error messages when I attempt to change information in the primary table.

    File locking record count exceeds max:512

    When I push OK I then get the following message.

    Unlocking an unlocked file 2a8

    When I push OK I then get the first message - this repeats indefinetyly

    I then have to close A5. I am using ver 4.5. I never got this message with ver 4.

    As no-one else seems to have a suggestion I thought I'd give one.

    I'm not sure whether this applies to your problem, but does it always happen when there are more than 512 child records to 1 parent record. If so, you have probably written a script somewhere along the lines of:

    dim hdr as p
    calls.commit()
    hdr=table.current()
    hdr.change_begin()
    hdr.fieldname1=???????.value
    hdr.fieldname2=???????.value
    hdr.change_end(.t.)
    fieldname1.refresh()
    fieldname2.refresh()

    or some such routine, perhaps on a save button. It appears to open each child record without closing it - design or bug I don't know. It appeared to work in 4.03, but not 4.5? I had this problem while doing some testing, so it was easy to narrow the cause to my script.

    I hope this helps.

    Thanks for the help. I will do some searching to see if I have a script that might be causing this problem.

    David,

    I don't have a solution but I am also getting a similar error message. The message I get only happens in design mode after working for more than 15 minutes. The message I get is "Unlocking an unlocked file: 98". I can push the "OK" button and return to design mode. I always re-boot after that.

    I am running Win 98 SE. Are you running Win 2K by any chance?

    I am running Windows 2000. I did not have this problem with v4 using the latest build (230 I think)
