Problem with counting occurences and calculations

Hello all.

I have a table with 25 fields and 29 records. There will not be anymore records added to the table and it is laid out such as in a spreadsheet.

The table is similar as follows:

mch line 1 size 1 line 2 size 2 upto line 8 size 8
29 123 123
28 123 456 A
27 456 A 456 A
26 456 A
25 456 B

This layout continues to mch number 1 and so on.

I need to be able to count the number of times that the same value appears in each line down the table to mch number one. I have to filter the counts on the size value as well. In the above example I have 123 listed 2 times. I have 456 A listed 2 times and 456 B listed 1 time in line one. I need to do this one a line by line basis up to line 8.

Line one summary would be such as this:

123 2
456 a 2
456 b 1

Next I will need to take the number of times each value is counted and multiply this by a specified value that will change from time to time.

Does anyone have any ideas on how to count the number of times each value occurs and then do the calculations?

I may be too scattered in my descriptions if so I will try to clarify.

The dbcount() and tablecount() functions should serve your need. The dbcount() is faster but requires the counted field(s) be indexed. With so few records, tablecount() should suffice.

Defining your expression seems to be the challenge.

Do you think it would be possible and/or advisable to perhaps have a table that contains all the values that would be in the lines to the set up an array to use as the filter?

The values spoken of are really style codes and therefore will be fixed data that will not change but just be added to.
