    Default Numeric Value is Out-of-Range

I'm getting "Numeric Value is out-of range" error.
I've adjusted the widths to a wider setting on both tables and forms but error still occurs.
Even stranger the error occurs when the number is $2,858 or higher?
    Thanks,
    Frank C

I have seen this error when appending data. It turns out that the data I was bringing in had a bad value in a numeric field (it had a date in the 19990101 format), and this number was too big to fit into a 10-2 numeric field. I solved it by fixing the value, but could have also fixed it by increasing the length of the field in the table (note: making the field longer in the form will NOT fix the problem).

Go to the table and check the structure. It's very likely that your field needs to be lengthened. Keep in mind that, in my example, 19990101 needs a field length of 11-2 (8 characters for the number shown, one for the decimal, and two for the characters after the decimal)

Frank, what's happening when the error appears? i.e. are you browsing through the table? are you appending new records?

I hit this after updating some data dictionaries only, and the table structure had been modified meanwhile (all by me - I screwed up).
The point being begin at the beginning and work up,
    1. Field type and size and decimals in table structure
    2. Field type and size and decimals in form or browse properties (not display width - that just screws up the display)
    3. Check any calculated values based on this field in field rules and calculated fields on forms and browses that they can handle the data.

    Stephen
I think you are the closest to fixing my problem. I have a mathmatic calculation that is "field X .0025" and I think that is what caused the problem.
To all that responded - Thank you very much, I did a temporary repair by duplicating the old table to the server from a shadowed user. I then redirected all the forms to the newly named table. I'll tackle this stange problem later.
    Sincerely,
