    Default Line at bottom of a column for totals

    I'm converting a report from a4. It will have 10 columns with up to 5 breaks and related totals. I have not found a simple way in A5 to place a total line. I understand that I could put a line object in place for each total of a line of dashes etc. but the it occurred to me there might be a potential enhancement.

    My proposal is to provide an option in the field property on the border/line section. Provide on option for a total line at the top of the field which is 1-2 positions shorter than the defined display width of the field. This would then indicate the total.

    For example;
    123
    234
    50

    In my own reports I just drag the line object off the toolbox and drop it where I want it. Each line object has properties that can be set in the design (width, dashed, etc.).

    What is it you are shooting for that can't be done with the existing line object?

    Tom,
    After my post I did set up text objects with equal signs to provide my desired lines. It was not as much hassle as I thoght it would be but it still took a bit of time to get it the way I wanted it. If I was billing for my time it would not be good value.
    I'm a firm believer that the sofware should do the maximum amount of work for the user, hence my suggestion.
    It's done now and the next time it will go a little faster.

    Paul, don't forget that once you create the first textbox with the equal signs the way you want, you can 'copy' and 'paste' it many other times into the same form. They wouldn't all have to be created from scratch each time.

    ...and using the alignment tools can help get things placed correctly.
