Refresh after script data entry

I have a form connected to a set. On the form there is a calculated field that adds the total of items sold entered in the child table. It is much like an invoice. I use a button and xbasic scripting to enter groups of items at one time. The script uses a basic:

t = table.open("Child table")
t.enter_begin()
t.enter the data that needs to be entered here.
t.enter_end()
t.close()
This in combination with a WHILE statement will go on to add a pre-defined group of items to be sold without haveing to enter them indivudally.

This works great when the script runs once but if I add another group to the same infoice the child browse does not always refresh and and even more important, the calculated field that totals the invoice items does not always refresh.
If I close the form and reopen it everthing is as it should be. I have tried everthing including:
parent.resynch()
browse2.refresh()
parentform.resynch()
topparent.resynch()
Can anyone help? This makes group entry impossible because the calculated total field value then gets moved via another script to another table.

Give this a shot. As the last action on the script:

browse2.activate()
browse2.resynch()
topparent.activate()

I think the problem is that you need to give focus to the browse in order to 'see' the refresh and then put focus back onto the form.

I have an app that does the same thing that you are doing. The only reliable way I found to ensure that the data is correct is to close the form and reopen it. Resynch, refresh in any variation didn't always work. I found a way to automate the process.

Step 1 Create a form in a different table (I use a dummy table with one field and one record) that looks just like the original form without any data fields. Add a message on the form that says "Please Wait - Saving Data" or something like that.

Step 2 If you are running this from a button, after all data is created by the script, save the record number of the parent and load or view the new message form.

Step 3 On the message form OnInit event, close the original form. Set up an OnTimer event on the message form that reopens the original form, changes the index to recno(), finds the original record, and resets the index back to whatever it was before.

Step 4 Use the OnActivate event of the original form to close the message form if it is open.

The neat part about this process is that you don't have to view the message form if you don't want. The OnTimer will fire even if the form is started with file.load() and the form is never activated. You may get some screen "jump" as the original form opens and closes.
