I am a relative novice in designing applications with Alpha Five V4, relying heavily on Alpha Five's pre-defined commands and field rules. In other words, I have yet not gotten into writing my own code or scripts, although, I have done some minor editing of "actions" assigned to buttons on form layouts. That said, I have encountered a problem with an application that I have designed and hope someone can suggest a solution.
My application contains a form on which there are buttons for printing six different reports, each printing data from a different table. I have been using the application on my desktop computer, which uses the full Alpha Five V4, for at least a year, maybe more, with no printing problems. I am also using the application on my laptop, using a Runtime version of Alpha Five V4.03, and have encountered no problems.
Recently, I installed a Runtime version of Alpha five V4.03 and my application on the laptop of one of my colleagues. He is using a Winbook XL2 hooked to an HP LaserJet 4L. Five of the reports print fine, but the sixth report always hangs up the printer. Every time he tries to print that report, he gets an error message that the printer time-out has been exceeded. We have tried lengthening the time-out, but it doesn't help. I have hooked my portable printer (a Canon Bubblejet BJC-70) to his laptop, and the report prints fine. I have hooked my laptop (Toshiba Satellite Pro) to his HP LaserJet 4L, and the report prints fine. This suggests to me that, perhaps, there is a communication problem between the Winbook and the LaserJet; however, he has no problems printing from his other programs.
Does anyone have any suggestions?
