    Default ui_get_text in a report?

Is it possible? I have a nice button that searches for a term and shows all records containing that term. There is another nice button that prints a pretty list of all the found records. Can I convince the report to print a user entered term in the report? What I would most like is to ask for the term in the Pretty Print button (can do) and have that term available to the report (ouch). Second best would be printing the searched for term.

Place the term in a global variable. Declare the variable global in the report as well. Then you can use it in the report.

Fantastic! The variable is filled in the form and then used in the header and continuation. Balanced columns, page numbers, the whole ball of wax. Almost as nice as WordStar would make ;-)

    Thanks muchly

Wordstar! My all time, absolutely, ever ever favorite. And a Control-K to you!

Steve, if you miss it that much, why don't you get it, absolutely free from here:
    http://www.sun.com/products/staroffice/get.cgi#download

It is a great product with features that MS could never come up with on their own. Of course we are bound to see them in upcoming MS products. Thieves!!!

Sixty-five megs? What on earth is in there? I have full versions of both WS6 and WS 7 installed, and the total is 14 megs.

    "Sixty-five megs?"
I knew you'd say that. It's the whole office not just wordstar. And it's the best integrated suite I've ever seen. You don't open one application to do one thing and then another application to do another thing.
Everything is done in one window - Spreadsheet, word processor, web browser, email, database...

You can order a CD for minimal charge, don't remember what, 15 bucks or so.

Sounds like a worse case of bloat than even MS Office. Should we ask how the database compares to A5 ;-?

The beauty of WordStar is in what it doesn't have - like anything at all onscreen except the text you are writing. And the text is meant to be easy to read - unlike Winapps which try to make the text approximate a paper printout. Navigation and selection are natural physical movements and the hands never leave the keyboard.

The bad news is you have to memorize four whole keystrokes to live comfortably without the training wheels. Entirely too efficient ever to make it as a Winapp.
