    Default Aquiring Signatures

Our "old" stand-alone system of creating Customer and employee ID cards is no longer supported by the vendor. I have been charged with creating the functionality in Alpha. I have the routines down to capture the Photo and attach their .bmp files to the appropriate records and print the cards. Our problem comes in where we need to aquire the Customer's or Employee's Signature. We have a Topaz Signature tablet where we can sign. I don't have any clue as to how to get alpha to 1: See the tablet, and 2: capture the signature.

    Any help would be appreciated.

I use scan to scan the signture as JPG file. When people send the letter through Alpha five, they have their own signtures.

We can't do that. We are seeing the customer face-to-face, and using a signature pad to capture the signature.

    Tom,

The only way I see this possible is if the tablet can save to a .bmp or .jpg file. Can it do that? or can it interface with a graphic program like paint or something?

Alpha would only be able to store it as a image or blob I would think anyway.

The tablet has a fairly rich ActiveX interface. It can also be set to store the signature as a .bmp, .jpg, or .tif. I am slowly working through the documentation. I was just hoping that someone else had waded through the bog before.

Tom, I know you guys are still working hard to get things running in V5, but you may need to go to V6 to get the ActiveX support you need. V5 has some limited ActiveX cpabilities, but they were greatly enhanced in V6.

The good news is that all of your work to move to V5 should run directly in V6.
