Bonus TIPS for Successful Posting

Try a Search First
It is highly recommended that a Search be done on your topic before posting, as many questions have been answered in prior posts. As with any search engine, the shorter the search term, the more "hits" will be returned, but the more specific the search term is, the greater the relevance of those "hits". Searching for "table" might well return every message on the board while "tablesum" would greatly restrict the number of messages returned.

When you do post
First, make sure you are posting your question in the correct forum. For example, if you post an issue regarding Desktop applications on the Mobile & Browser Applications board , not only will your question not be seen by the appropriate audience, it may also be removed or relocated.

The more detail you provide about your problem or question, the more likely someone is to understand your request and be able to help. A sample database with a minimum of records (and its support files, zipped together) will make it much easier to diagnose issues with your application. Screen shots of error messages are especially helpful.

When explaining how to reproduce your problem, please be as detailed as possible. Describe every step, click-by-click and keypress-by-keypress. Otherwise when others try to duplicate your problem, they may do something slightly different and end up with different results.

A note about attachments
You may only attach one file to each message. Attachment file size is limited to 2MB. If you need to include several files, you may do so by zipping them into a single archive.

If you forgot to attach your files to your post, please do NOT create a new thread. Instead, reply to your original message and attach the file there.

When attaching screen shots, it is best to attach an image file (.BMP, .JPG, .GIF, .PNG, etc.) or a zip file of several images, as opposed to a Word document containing the screen shots. Because Word documents are prone to viruses, many message board users will not open your Word file, therefore limiting their ability to help you.

Similarly, if you are uploading a zipped archive, you should simply create a .ZIP file and not a self-extracting .EXE as many users will not run your EXE file.

    John,

Would like to help you, but you didn't include your .adb or .al* files in your zip.

With out looking might I suggest that you place your code to hide and show the objects in the 'OnFetch' event of the form and not the 'OnInit' event.

If I understand your problem correctly, this should solve your problem.

          John,

Sorry, still no joy, I need the service code table and anything else that has to do with your payments set so I can open the payments form.

              John,

I took a look at your form and made the needed changes. You were taking the long hard road. I used a conditional object to solve your problem. When you have time study up on it in the help files. I removed your 'OnFetch' scripts and your 'OnChange' scripts and replaced the 'OnChange' script with one line of code.

Attached is only the SE* files you need for the form. Replace yours with these, you will not lose anything.

              Hope this helps, Happy programming!

                  RE: use of topparent

Hi Scott, very neat and a lot less complicated. I've scanned the cond obj in the help file, this is something I can use in other parts of the db. I don't recall if I encluded the Main Menu in the upload. If I did, can you take a look at the Payments Btn. When you go to Post Payments, results are correct if there are none to post, however if there are postings, when it cycles through the post and show the completed msg, it opens up a new instance of the enter payments form, shouldn't do that. I used the debugger and stepped through the sequence, seems to continue past the End If statement. Any ideas. jb

                    John,

I am not sure if this is what you mean, but shouldn't this condition:

                    Var-"msgboxPP_OK_Button

                    Actually be:

                    Var-"msgboxPPC_OK_Button

Hi Scott, as far a I can tell both msg box are in the right seq order. What the jist is, when you select post payments, one of 2 things will happen, cancel will stop the seq, this works. if there is a payment to post the other part of the msg is confirm payments "Are you sure you want to post payment?", selecting yes will go through the op procedures and return "Post payments Completed (msgboxPPC), the seq should stop here, but it continues on to the enter new record screen. I don't know if you can enter a payment to see how it works. ? tks jb

                        John,

Then you need to place a end after the "Post payments Completed (msgboxPPC)" with a condition similar to the others.

Scott, it has a end if after the procedures are finished and that's where it should stop, but it jumps to the next line to eval. which is to enter payments. I've traced the steps through debug and can't find where it's told to continue. I've placed a debug(1) in both inline xbasic scripts to follow the steps. Don't know where else to look, sorry if I'm being a pest, just trying to get a handle on this. jb

                            John,

I don't mean to be dense, but I only see one stop and thats the second action(see attached pic).

What exactly are you trying to stop?

If you want, email me so we don't take up anymore server space here.
