Hey Folks,
This is a challange!!
I have a hotkey program that records and plays back keystrokes and scripts that I can write for universal useage. For example, pressing CTRL-2 would display a message box, or execute some szequence of action. I can be within an A5 database and manually hold down [CTRL], tap 2 and the message box displays. I want to attach that action to a button, so that pressing the button would play the keystrokes just as if I pressed them manually.
I tried recording a script and attaching the script to a button, but I get an error message. Then, I tried placing the keystrokes directly on the button using the Send Keys action using Action Scripting. Using the genie, I entered the keystrokes in the dialog, selected ' Send keystrokes to another program' and in the 'External program Window Name:', I selected 'keyboard' from the available list. When I pressed the button, the form it is on lost focus (the blue title bar went gray, but nothing happened, no action - no error - nothing. The system wasn't locked up, just nothing happened.
Does anyone know how the available list in the 'External program Window Name:' is arrived at and more pointedly, how do I get my hotkey program on that list so that presumable it will be recognized? The contents of the list makes no sense (at least not to me).
Any help/guidance/suggestions would be appreciated.
Dave
