Bonus TIPS for Successful Posting

Try a Search First
It is highly recommended that a Search be done on your topic before posting, as many questions have been answered in prior posts. As with any search engine, the shorter the search term, the more "hits" will be returned, but the more specific the search term is, the greater the relevance of those "hits". Searching for "table" might well return every message on the board while "tablesum" would greatly restrict the number of messages returned.

When you do post
First, make sure you are posting your question in the correct forum. For example, if you post an issue regarding Desktop applications on the Mobile & Browser Applications board , not only will your question not be seen by the appropriate audience, it may also be removed or relocated.

The more detail you provide about your problem or question, the more likely someone is to understand your request and be able to help. A sample database with a minimum of records (and its support files, zipped together) will make it much easier to diagnose issues with your application. Screen shots of error messages are especially helpful.

When explaining how to reproduce your problem, please be as detailed as possible. Describe every step, click-by-click and keypress-by-keypress. Otherwise when others try to duplicate your problem, they may do something slightly different and end up with different results.

A note about attachments
You may only attach one file to each message. Attachment file size is limited to 2MB. If you need to include several files, you may do so by zipping them into a single archive.

If you forgot to attach your files to your post, please do NOT create a new thread. Instead, reply to your original message and attach the file there.

When attaching screen shots, it is best to attach an image file (.BMP, .JPG, .GIF, .PNG, etc.) or a zip file of several images, as opposed to a Word document containing the screen shots. Because Word documents are prone to viruses, many message board users will not open your Word file, therefore limiting their ability to help you.

Similarly, if you are uploading a zipped archive, you should simply create a .ZIP file and not a self-extracting .EXE as many users will not run your EXE file.

    Browse Row color

hey gang, just a quick question. In a browse I can change the colors of the individual columns according to the status i set. Is there a way to actually change the row of the browse, so I don't have to change all the columns. tks jb

    John,

There has been a good bit of discussion of this, with solutions provided by Selwyn and others. Use either Search or check the FAQs.

Thanks for the reply Dave, had looked in search 280 threads, some dealing with alternating row color. I know I can put the calc equation in each column to change the color, as per the status. Thought there may be a way to actually change the full row at one time. To help understand what I'm trying to accomplish. The Browse has a Status field, the selections are (Available, Dispatched, Invoiced and Voided) I want to be able to change the row according to the status.eg, Red for available, Green for Invoiced, etc. Changing the Indvidual Columns works, just a long way around. thanks again jb

        John,

No...you must set the color equasion for each column.

As a time saver, you might want to look at the "Copy Selected Properties" option under the "Advanced" menu item on the column's right click menu (in the design mode of course).

            RE: Browse Row color

Not exactly, but you can create a calculated color expression in your form and call it "Colors".

            1. Paste Calc-"Colors as the expression in each column. The row colors will fire correctly. Now if you change your mind about the color schema, just change the one form level expression and all the columns will be instantly updated. Can save a lot of time if your apt to change colors.

            2. You can also assign the color name to variables, and use the variables in your expression

Combining 1 & 2 gives you the ultimate in flexibility.

Thank you Peter, looks like a better way. Now without making another post, I have 2 RTF Holders on a report. One has the shipper name add etc, the other has the consignee name add etc. The holder with the ship info works fine, the other holder doesn't. I've checked the expressions within the holder and they give me the correct info, but it won't print on the report. any suggestions. tks jb

Better to start a new thread so others might see it.

Is this a table or a set?

You might want to post a working example.
